Seeing more content from us lately? Good! You can thank our incredible Special Olympics Intern: Charlie Osborn. He has had a busy month capturing our athletes, coaches, and volunteers in action!
A note from Charlie: My name is Charlie Osborn and I am a junior in the Compass Program at Duquesne University. I am studying media and sports. I am an intern at Special Olympics working on social media and sharing athletes' stories. In Special Olympics I powerlift and play basketball. I also participate in the Polar Plunge. It is cold but a lot of fun and raises a lot of money.
Outside of Special Olympics I golf, box and play baseball and tennis. Even though it is hard, I work out three days a week to stay in shape. I also take part in CLO New Horizons. I enjoy going to Pirates games and Duquesne men’s basketball games.
Special Olympics is very important to me because I feel accepted for who I am. It is an inclusive environment - there is room for everyone. I think people should know Special Olympics is much more than sports; it is also about making new friends. Special Olympics is a place of acceptance, respect, and inclusion. I always say see the able, not the label.
