Give Them Hope: This week, you’ve heard stories from the people behind Kids’ Club and Moms’ Empowerment — and from a mom whose life was impacted by this program.
Today, our Executive Director Lisa Peterson-Lizun shares what the recent loss of county funding means for the future of these services.
Mental health support for moms and their children who have experienced intimate partner violence is essential. Without it, they will not have the tools they need to heal, rebuild their lives, and have hope for tomorrow.
You can give them hope by:
• Making a donation
• Sharing this campaign
• Advocating for continued investment in family mental health programs
Together, we can continue supporting children and families who need us the most.:

A Mom's Perspective: Today, we are honored to share Nicole's story—a mother who participated in Kids’ Club and Moms’ Empowerment at Allegheny Children’s Initiative.
Her experience is a powerful reminder that healing can happen when families are surrounded by support and connection.
Programs like Kids’ Club and Moms’ Empowerment help mothers build confidence, break the cycle of violence and create healthier futures for their children.
As these services face uncertainty due to funding cuts, stories like Nicole's remind us why financial support from our community is critical. Please take a moment to watch and share.

Kids' Club & Moms' Empowerment: Why This Program Matters
Today, we’re hearing directly from the leadership of Kids’ Club and Moms’ Empowerment.
In this video, Abigail Dudzic, Program Director, explains how this program supports children and mothers navigating trauma and the aftermath of intimate partner violence (IPV).
For many participants, these programs provide more than education and — they provide the only opportunity for mothers and their children to connect with professional support, meet others who are also experiencing trauma and build relationships that will continue beyond the formal sessions.
We invite you to listen, learn, and help us raise awareness about why Kids’ Club and Moms’ Empowerment must continue. Please watch and share.

"The Journey from Trauma to Hope": Moms and their children who face trauma and mental health challenges due to intimate partner violence deserve support, connection, and hope.
This Mental Health Month, Allegheny Children’s Initiative is highlighting a program that provides all of these in a safe, comforting environment: Kids’ Club and Moms’ Empowerment.
This vital program provides a space for moms and their children who have experienced intimate partner violence (IPV) to connect, learn and heal.
Recently, Kids’ Club and Mom’s Empowerment lost critical funding from Allegheny County, placing this essential service at risk. Throughout this week, we’ll be sharing stories from moms and Allegheny Children’s Initiative clinicians about the real impact this program has — and why continuing this work matters. Today, Program Director Abigail Dudzic explains this vital service.
We hope you’ll follow along, share our message, and stand with these brave moms who deserve access to mental health support.
