Awareness is important. But what happens after we recognize the signs?

Beyond Awareness: Safety in Action is an intimate self defense and personal safety experience hosted by ITAVFoundation in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

We often talk about recognizing unsafe situations, being aware of our surroundings, and knowing when something is wrong. This experience takes the conversation further by creating an opportunity to learn, prepare, practice, and put safety into action.

Led by safety instructor Tasha Plaza, CEO and Owner of Prime Legacy Security Inc., participants will be introduced to practical physical self defense skills while engaging in meaningful conversations around personal safety, awareness, preparation, and protection.

This is more than a self defense class. It is a curated safe space experience designed to bring together practical instruction, conversation, tangible resources, and community.

What does it really mean to be aware of your surroundings?

One of the biggest conversations during our Women’s Personal Safety Workshop was understanding that personal safety starts long before we ever have to physically defend ourselves.

It is paying attention. Recognizing when something feels off. Understanding your environment. Knowing your options. And learning how the decisions we make in everyday situations can impact our safety.

These are the conversations we wanted women and young women in our community to have access to.

Knowledge is a form of protection, too.

Thank you to Tasha Plaza of Prime Legacy Security for leading the conversation and giving us so much to think about.

Thank you for capturing these moments from our workshop.

Thank you for showing up.

To every woman and young woman who joined us for our Women’s Personal Safety Workshop, thank you.

Thank you for taking the initiative to learn more about your personal safety. Thank you for asking questions, participating in the conversation, sharing your experiences, and being open to learning something new.

We are grateful for every single person who walked through the door.

There is something powerful about choosing to become more aware, more informed, and more intentional about our safety.

Thank you for spending your afternoon with us, and thank you for choosing to invest in yourself.

We hope you walked away with information that stays with you long after the workshop ended.

Meet Tasha Plaza, Founder & CEO of Prime Legacy Security

Tasha Plaza is a seasoned security professional, safety educator, and Founder & CEO of Prime Legacy Security, a Philadelphia based security company providing professional security services, consulting, safety training, and personal protection education.

With a passion for helping people become more aware, informed, and prepared, Tasha brings practical safety education into the community with an emphasis on awareness, prevention, and confident decision making.

We recently had the pleasure of partnering with Tasha for our Women’s Personal Safety: Awareness, Avoidance & Decision Making workshop, where she led an important conversation about recognizing potential risks, trusting your instincts, setting boundaries, and understanding that personal safety begins long before a situation becomes physical.

Thank you, Tasha, for sharing your knowledge with our village and creating a space where women could ask questions, learn, and think differently about what it means to protect themselves.

On May 30, 2026, ITAVFoundation hosted our Maternal Support & Education Day, centered around this year’s theme, Beyond Delivery.

Maternal health does not begin and end with childbirth. Support must continue through pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, and the many transitions families experience along the way.

Maternal Support & Education Day brought our community together for education, conversation, health screenings, resources, advocacy, and connection. It created a space where parents and families could learn, ask questions, access support, and connect with organizations and professionals committed to maternal and family well being.

Through our Maternal Support & Education Program, ITAVFoundation continues to address the everyday barriers that can affect families, including access to diapers and postpartum essentials, food, transportation, lactation education, mental health resources, postpartum support, and other practical needs.

This video is a look back at a day dedicated to reminding families that maternal support goes Beyond Delivery.

Thank you to Dosso Beauty for donating combs for our Back to School Community Day.

Hair care is an important part of personal care, and these combs were a practical addition to the essentials available to our families. Items like these help students feel prepared, comfortable, and confident as they begin the new school year.

We appreciate Dosso Beauty for contributing something our families could use beyond the event.
