Rose Levy Beranbaum visited Head pastry chef and production manager, Leslie McLaughlin from Franklin Fountain, Shane’s, and the Cocoa POD (their latest event space) Special thanks to founder, Eric Berley who is donating ice cream to the Les Dames Heritage dinner on September 13th. Rose along with Melissa Hamilton, Christopher Hirsheimer, and Michele Leff are our honorees for Outstanding in her Field award given out at the dinner. Grab your tickets in our Linktree or our website to celebrate with these wonderful women and enjoy a great meal amongst so many food professionals. Rose’s favorite ice cream was their honeycomb although the vegan chocolate was a close second! If you can’t wait, do stop in and grab a cone or their specially made root beer float.

We were kids in a candy store — FOR REAL! 🍫🍨🍬

Our Sweet Stories of Philadelphia gathering took Les Dames Philadelphia to the Cacao Pod for an afternoon exploring the stories and flavors behind some of Philadelphia’s sweetest traditions.

We learned about cacao and chocolate, gingerbread, soda and root beer, ice cream and Philadelphia’s delicious connection to it all — and, of course, we tasted along the way!

Chocolate and cacao nibs. Gingerbread. Vegan ice cream. One of the best vanilla ice creams I’ve ever had. And a good old-fashioned root beer float. 😋

Then we headed behind the scenes for a tour of the kitchens above Shane Confectionery before popping into the candy shop itself — where the “kids in a candy store” part became quite literal. 😂

Twelve of us shared this sweet afternoon, including one of our newest Dames, Corey. ❤️

Another Dames Good Night! 🥂🇵🇱

We came for the pierogi…

We stayed for the laughter.

Somehow, five women who share a passion for food, hospitality, and great conversation sat down at 5:00 p.m., and before we knew it, someone looked outside and said, “Wait…it’s dark?!” Three and a half hours had flown by.

Thank you to Chef Michael and the team at Little Walter’s for a wonderful evening of delicious food, warm hospitality, and a table full of memories.

Here’s to great meals, great friends, and discovering another one of Philadelphia’s culinary gems.

One of my favorite things about being part of Philly’s food community is that dinner is never just dinner. Last night four of us feast it at Wilder. We enjoyed sweet Amalia oysters fried calamari with Frisée and tarragon, aïoli swordfish and whole Bronzino running into BRIE a former cheesemonger was extra special that’s Philly. That’s why I love this industry dessert was extra special. It was a Dames good night. Tell me you are a pastry chef without telling me you are a pastry chef. # #
