Food is medicine, and for many Pennsylvanians living with serious health conditions, medically tailored meals can be an important part of their care.

A recent NPR story highlighted how federal Medicaid cuts could put meal delivery programs at risk for people who depend on them. Research shows medically tailored meals can help reduce hospital visits, improve health outcomes and lower healthcare costs.

At MANNA, we’re advocating for sustainable access to these meals in Pennsylvania and across the country. Because it’s not just about delivering food - it’s about delivering the right food to help people live healthier lives.

Some states deliver meals to Medicaid patients that address their dietary needs. Evidence shows it aids recovery and saves healthcare costs, but federal budget cuts may lead some states to cancel it.

One year ago, today, 450 guests gathered at The Bellevue to attend MANNA's 35th Anniversary Celebration. 🎉💫 From the stunning decor and show-stopping entertainment to the incredible food, this night is one we're still talking about! We can't thank our community enough for their continued celebration and support of the MANNA mission. Make sure to save the date to join us for our next celebration—Main Course, which returns April 8, 2027! 💙🍴

There’s something special about bringing people together around a shared commitment to our community. 💙✨ We loved welcoming the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on Aging to MANNA for a Pie in the Sky volunteer shift. We discussed our shared commitment to supporting older Philadelphians and then rolled up our sleeves!

MANNA has served nearly 4,500 Philadelphians age 55+ over the last three fiscal years, and 12,860 older adults throughout our history.

The Commission’s team also packed an incredible 2,444 apple pies toward our goal of 10,000 pies this holiday season! Thank you for spending the day with us and helping us kick off Pie in the Sky season. 🥧🍎

BIG NEWS! 🎉 H.R. 5439, the Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meals Program Pilot Act, was unanimously approved by the House Ways and Means Committee!

A huge thank you to the Food Is Medicine Coalition (FIMC) for leading this important work. As a proud FIMC member, MANNA has been advocating for medically tailored meals at the state and national levels.

This is a big step toward expanding access to accredited medically tailored meal providers in Pennsylvania and across the country.

Food is healthcare. And we’re moving forward! 💙✨

MANNA will be closed on Monday, 9/14, following the morning packing shift for an all-staff team building retreat. Our normal hours will resume bright and early on Tuesday, 9/15 at 7:00 am!
