Scarring Alopecia Foundation - SAF

Scarring Alopecia Foundation - SAF Scarring Alopecia Foundation (SAF) is a nonprofit public charity organization for scarring alopecia!

The Scarring Alopecia Foundation (SAF) was formed as a result of one person's experience with scarring alopecia (cicatricial means scarring). When the patient realized that little is known about such disorders, she decided, with the help of her doctor, to initiate a grassroots effort to raise funds to study these problems. When you join SAF you'll be able to access our physician referral list, join local support groups, receive newsletters, be notified about upcoming patient-doctor conferences and other pertinent information.

Special Launch Announcement 🚨 A member of our SAF community — Mary Geter, founder of Beyond the Hairline — has developed an app to help people track and understand their hair-loss journey.

Beyond the Hairline is an education-first platform on a mission to get scarring alopecia noticed sooner — before more is lost.

Founded by Mary Geter, it trains the people closest to the scalp — cosmetologists, barbers, and instructors — and gives people simple tools to notice changes, keep a record, and bring them to a dermatologist early.

Beyond the Hairline is an education and awareness platform. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice. The apps are record-keeping and tracking tools only. Always consult a board-certified dermatologist about any scalp or hair concern.

Details and the download link will follow in our monthly Buzz - sign up today to get more information on BTH and all things SAF.

Learn the signs, keep a record, protect what’s left.
