💙 Happy National Nonprofit Day! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating the people who make our mission possible - our dedicated staff, incredible volunteers, generous donors, and community partners who show up every day for Philadelphia’s children.

Fun fact: National Nonprofit Day is observed on August 17 to recognize charitable organizations and was inspired by the Tariff Act of 1894, which first granted federal tax exemptions to nonprofits. 📜

At the Support Center for Child Advocates, we advocate for children who have experienced abuse and neglect and work toward a future where every child has a safe, permanent, and loving home. We couldn’t do this work alone, and we are so grateful for everyone who helps us make a difference.

August is National Wellness Month. The Center for Excellence in Advocacy can offer Wellness Recover Action Plan (WRAP) Seminars at your agency, law firm, or school. WRAP is an evidence-based program that can help staff address the impacts of secondary traumatic stress and burnout. The WRAP process supports you to identify the tools that keep you well and create action plans to put them into practice in your everyday life. Today is International Youth Day! 💙

International Youth Day is a time to recognize the creativity, vision, and voices of young people and to highlight the important role they play in building more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable communities.

At the Support Center for Child Advocates, we believe young people should be heard, listened to, respected, and empowered to have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

Every day, we advocate for children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect, working to secure safety, justice, well-being, and a permanent, nurturing environment for every child.

August is National Wellness Month, and during August, we celebrate our staff who support our clients’ wellness all year-round. Exposure to the trauma through the course of one’s work can impact staff wellness, so the Center for Excellence in Advocacy (CEA) has developed multiple trainings to support professionals’ well-being, including topics such as Mitigating Secondary Trauma and Burnout; Supportive Strategies for Supervisors; and Mindfulness Practices for Professional Sustainability. CEA is certified to provide the evidence-based WRAP Program (Wellness Recovery Action Plan). Check out our offerings to support staff wellness at https://sccalaw.org/training/
