Meet Mark, a participant in PHMC subsidiary Joseph J Peters Institute's Vaux PATH program.

“[JJPI] helped me heal and move forward by being able to express myself, letting things out,” he shares. “Every time I leave here, I feel good. I feel great.”

Vaux PATH (Partnership to Address Trauma and Healing) embeds clinicians on-site at Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Vaux Community Center to provide behavioral health support for children and adults affected by trauma.

Thank you again to our sponsors and all those who joined PHMC and Joseph J Peters Institute last week for our Voices of Hope Reception! The event, which recognized National Mental Health Awareness Month, raised more than $80,500 for PHMC’s Behavioral Health services and JJPI.

The event also honored the leadership and legacy of Michael K. Pearson, President and CEO of PHMC. Michael will retire in June 2026 from PHMC after decades of service advancing public health across our region. In accepting accolades from his colleagues, Michael shared his personal journey with mental health, highlighting the importance of support for Black men and veterans in particular.

Pearson, President and CEO of PHMC, as he prepares to retire after decades of service advancing public health access and mental health awareness.

Everyone in the room felt the energy learning about PHMC and JJPI's impact, and hearing from Michael about his own mental health journey; we appreciate all our supporters and sponsors who made this celebration possible.
