Legal Clinic for the Disabled - LCD

Legal Clinic for the Disabled - LCD We assist victims of domestic violence to get legal protection from their abusers. We represent victims of identity theft and consumer fraud.

The Legal Clinic for the Disabled (LCD) has provided free legal services to low-income people with disabilities and to the deaf and hard of hearing in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties since 1987. Since 1990, the Legal Clinic for the Disabled (LCD), a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with offices at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital (Magee), has helped thousands of people

with disabilities. We help parents and care givers access healthcare for their children. We write wills, powers of attorney and living wills. Most of our clients experience physical limitations in their daily activities, and many have suffered catastrophic injuries or illnesses like stroke, spinal cord or brain injury, multiple sclerosis, cancer, advanced diabetes, glaucoma, AIDS, amputation or epilepsy. Our services help them overcome legal problems and continue living safely and independently in the community.

Today, we celebrate 36 years since the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark moment in the fight for equal rights and accessibility.

The ADA affirmed that people with disabilities deserve full and equal participation in all areas of public life. Its impact continues to shape a more inclusive and accessible world, but the work is not finished.

At the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, we remain committed to protecting these rights and advancing the promise of the ADA every day.

Did you know?

The first Parade in the United States took place in Boston in 1990, the same year the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. It was created to celebrate disability as a vital part of identity, culture, and community, and to challenge stigma.

What began as a powerful act of visibility continues today as a movement rooted in pride, advocacy, and belonging.

Earlier this week, LCD hosted a Community Legal Outreach Clinic (CLOC) at Inglis. Legal professionals from Blank Rome, Morgan Lewis, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, GSK , Delaware Court of Chancery, Troutman Pepper Locke LLP, and Oliver Tyrone Pulver Corp. helped LCD clients write and execute Wills and Powers of Attorney!

We're grateful to all of our pro bono volunteers and the dedicated team at Inglis House who helped make this clinic possible.

Curious about CLOCs? Learn more about this program and others by heading to our website at https://lcdphila.org/who-we-are/programs/
