Breakthrough Scholars, Teaching Fellows, and Staff spent an inspiring morning with Mayor Cherelle Parker.

Mayor Parker, thank you for your words of inspiration... reminding Scholars that they have "no limits, no boxes that define who you are, who you will be, and what you will become in life."

And to Teaching Fellows... the "most powerful, and influential commodities in the world right now, in (their) role(s) as the shapers of leaders, and minds, and critical thinkers, building the foundation."

The next elective showcased on our Elective Spotlight is the Step class taught by Teacher Danae and Teacher Imani. Yesterday, Breakthrough Scholars completed the weathering and erosion module of the Students 2 Science program. The Students 2 Science mission is to level the education gap by bringing high-quality STEM education to students in need. Scholars were immersed in experience and were excited to participate. A massive thanks to Sanofi for helping bring these science units to Breakthrough! We hope these experiences will help inspire the next generation of scientists and STEM professionals!

Our next Elective Spotlight is on Teacher Notch’s history class. Scholars participate in mock court sessions and present their arguments and claims to the judge. They work with their teacher to strengthen different sections of their argument and hopefully get a not-guilty verdict!
