(629)

Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman, their spouses and children. The Foundation coordinates closely with Reconnaissance commands to support critical needs of active-duty operators while also providing resources for Reconnaissance veterans. Our work is focused on four key areas: Critical and ongoing support for the wounded, family services command support, educational programs, and legacy ac

tivities. The Foundation was formed in June of 2013 when it was identified that there was no foundation or support for this special community and their families. This foundation will make it easier for families to receive assistance and support from one organization that is solely dedicated to the Reconnaissance community. Statement of Purpose
Established to serve U.S. Marine Corps Reconnaissance personnel, and their families, the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation offers critical support to Reconnaissance commands, active-duty personnel, their families and former Reconnaissance Marines and Sailors. As the duration and frequency of training and operational deployments continue, and the stress on the families and Marines grows, this special community requires support today more than ever.

AJ Pasciuti & MRF Team Member Pep Tablada discuss AJ’s recently published book DARK HORSE

https://youtube.com/watch?v=mZTyzEvcWvI&si=YBbiYcHGZ7gvTTXH

Our friend and teammate Amatangelo “AJ” Pasciuti has published his book DARK HORSE, that all Marines and certainly Reconnaissance Marines and Sailors will read and see their own journey within his writings.

It is a story about war, Scout Snipers, the Reconnaissance community , and the hunt for Juba but it is much more than that. It is the story of a single teammate and his experience with both glory, failure, triumph and defeat and how he navigated it with his family, fellow Marines and most importantly with himself.

DARK HORSE is about the men and women who showed a young, scared kid that he was worth something. The people who carried the physical and emotional weight of courage until he could learn to carry it on my own. It is a tribute to the people who shaped AJ, the Marines he walked beside, and those who never made it home.

DARK HORSE is a MUST READ not only for men and women of the warrior cloth, but also for those who would like to learn about humble and selfless service and leading from the middle with no unnecessary inflation, nor need for accolades. Just service.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITY: Greystone Training &
Consulting Partners, LLC Counter-Sniper Operation Rapid Ex*****on (CORE) Module, 5 to 8 October 2026, Tavira, Portugal

Two slots have become available in the Counter-Sniper Operation Rapid Ex*****on (CORE) Module, 5 to 8 October 2026, Tavira, Portugal.

The module runs with a maximum of twelve participants across six two-person planning teams. The two available slots are ideally filled by a single two-person team, though individual applicants from qualified units will be considered.

CORE is a four-day tabletop planning module that produces a completed, actionable counter-sniper employment plan tailored to the participating team’s specific personnel, weapon systems, equipment, and confirmed external assets. The plan addresses how the team finds, fixes, and supports the finish of a trained sniper threat while managing the civilian environment, applying coordinated pressure that degrades the threat’s options, and sustaining the operation beyond the initial engagement window.

The module is available exclusively to verified military organizations and units.

If you or your team are available and operationally suited, contact me directly by replying to this email or at [email protected]. Include a brief description of your unit’s role and operational context. These slots will be filled on a first-confirmed basis.

ATTENTION ON DECK: LtCol William Leftwich Tombstone Dedication: 10:00 am, 17 June 2026 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Tennessee.

For those who are able and interested, you are cordially invited to attend this important event that is long overdue.

1st Reconnaissance Battalion lost their battalion commander, LtCol William Leftwich, and the Marines of Recon Team Rush Act during a dangerous emergency extraction in Vietnam on November 18th, 1970.

LtCol Leftwich was an extremely well respected commander who personally led every emergency extraction mission in his battalion.

In coordination with the Brooks Tucker, the former Chief of Staff of the Veterans Affairs, Chief of Staff for National Cemetery Administration, Craig Berry from the Marine Corps League Memphis, Konrad Tolai, the Assistant Deputy Director of Cemetery Operations & the Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs, we have been able to secure a replacement headstone for LtCol William Leftwich’s gravesite as it was in a state of disrepair.

The address for the cemetery is Forest Hill Cemetery (1685 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis TN 38106).

Today, the Marine Corps presents the Annual Leftwich Award, a trophy given for outstanding leadership following a selection board chaired by the Deputy Commandant of Plans, Policies and Operations (DC PP&O) for nominees that are Marine Captains in the ground combat elementserving on active duty as a company or battery commander with the ground forces of the Fleet Marine Force at the time of nomination. The Commandant of the Marine Corps is the approving official for this coveted award.

Mission Debrief: Operation Sentinel Resolve

As our nation approaches Memorial Day Weekend, we pause to honor the brave men and women who stood the watch and are no longer with us. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy today, and their legacy continues to inspire service, leadership, and unity across our communities.

On April 18, 2026, the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation brought ten competitors to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to compete in OC Race as part of Operation Sentinel Resolve. This year’s mission debrief explains what was accomplished by two charities honoring and carrying forward the memories of several Alabama Marines who understood the importance of service to our nation.

Built on trust, shared purpose, and collaboration, the Reconnaissance Foundation and .alabama.marines united once again to honor these Gold Star and Fallen Warrior Families, promote health and wellness across American communities, and remind others that the freedoms we enjoy as Americans come at a cost.

So much can be accomplished when different organizations find shared mission space and commit themselves to honoring the legacy of those no longer with us.
