Four years ago, Sherman Tam started at our front desk. Today, he is helping shape the strategic direction behind how Hanson House connects with our community and supporters.

As our Marketing Advisor, Sherman rebuilt our website from the ground up, expanded our communications and fundraising efforts, and opened doors to new partnerships that directly fuel our mission. No matter the request, big or small, Sherman rolls up his sleeves and gets it done.

A Coachella Valley resident for 25 years, Sherman has spent that time building genuine relationships with nonprofits, civic groups, and local businesses—relationships that now run deep through Hanson House’s roots in our community. He serves on several of our committees, strengthening our outreach and helping grow our impact from the inside out.

Sherman brings a career filled with marketing leadership across technology startups and Fortune 100 companies—and generously shares that experience with our mission. He has shaped our brand, sharpened our strategy, and shown up year after year with the kind of sustained commitment that makes our organization stronger.

This year, we are proud to honor Sherman as the Dr. Ercoli Impact Award recipient at our 23rd Annual Gala, recognizing his extraordinary dedication, leadership, and lasting impact on the Hanson House Foundation and the families we serve.

✨ Congratulations Gerald “Jerry” Keller ✨

Gerald “Jerry” Keller is a longtime Coachella Valley business leader, restaurateur, publisher, and philanthropist whose contributions have helped shape the region’s hospitality, tourism, and nonprofit communities.

After a successful publishing career in New York, Jerry and his late wife, Barbara, made the Coachella Valley their permanent home. In 2005, they entered the restaurant industry with Acqua Pazza, followed by the opening of Lulu California Bistro in 2011. Lulu has welcomed nearly 4 million guests and has played a significant role in the revitalization of downtown Palm Springs.

Beyond business, Jerry has dedicated decades to supporting local nonprofits and community initiatives. He has served on numerous boards, including Visit Greater Palm Springs and PS Resorts, helping promote tourism and strengthen the local economy. He has also generously supported organizations such as Desert AIDS Project, CV Repertory Theatre, and many other charitable and civic causes, frequently opening his venues to support local fundraisers.

Recognized for his lifelong contributions, Jerry received the Richard M. Milanovich Community Service Award in 2023 and a star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars honoring his achievements as a visionary, entrepreneur, and community leader.

Jerry’s commitment to giving back reflects the same spirit of community that drives Hanson House Foundation. His support helps strengthen our mission of providing a “Home Away from Home” for families who must travel to the Coachella Valley while their loved ones receive critical medical care.

✨ Congratulations, Dick Shalhoub! ✨

Local businessman and philanthropist Dick Shalhoub has dedicated more than four decades to strengthening the Coachella Valley and helping local nonprofits thrive. As the longtime owner-operator of more than 30 regional McDonalds restaurants, Dick built an impressive business legacy matched by his commitment to giving back through his time, resources, and expertise.

Over the years, Dick has served in leadership capacities with nearly 30 organizations, sharing his experience in operations, finance, marketing, and strategic planning. His community involvement has included FIND Food Bank, the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center, Dogs for Our Brave, and the Palm Springs Air Museum.

His impact has not gone unnoticed, and his connection to Hanson House Foundation is especially meaningful. Dick supported the Hanson House project before our doors opened, believing in the vision of creating a home away from home for families facing critical medical journeys.

Now, 23 years later, Dick continues to stand behind our mission and the families we serve. Linda Evans has served as Mayor of the City of La Quinta since 2014, following her service on the City Council in 2009. She is also the Chief Strategy Officer of Community Advocacy for Desert Care Network, serving Desert Regional Medical Center, JFK Memorial Hospital, and Hi-Desert Medical Center, where she has dedicated more than 31 years to advancing healthcare and community partnerships.

A respected leader throughout the Coachella Valley, Linda is recognized for bringing together healthcare, nonprofit, business, and civic organizations to improve the quality of life for residents. Her collaborative leadership and passion for community service have made a lasting impact across the region.

Linda’s commitment to the Hanson House Foundation spans its entire history. Since the Foundation’s inception, she has been a steadfast advocate and ambassador, championing its mission to ensure families facing medical crises have access to compassionate lodging and support close to their loved ones. Her unwavering encouragement, leadership, and belief in the Foundation’s vision have helped strengthen its impact throughout the Coachella Valley.

Linda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications/Public Relations from California State University, Fullerton, along with Master’s Degrees in Health Administration and Gerontology from the University of La Verne. She serves on numerous regional boards and commissions, including the Coachella Valley Association of Governments, Visit Greater Palm Springs, Palm Springs Air Museum, Impact Through Golf Foundation, Coachella Valley Volunteers in Medicine, and the Rotary Club of La Quinta.
