Ready for some birding before the rain this weekend? Join Tom Troy and friends on Halloween morning —

Coastal 101 Birding:
Saturday, October 31, 9:00 a.m.
Meet in the Buena Vista Nature Center parking lot, South Coast Hwy, Oceanside.
After starting at the BV Lagoon, we walk to Maxton Brown Park and then to the ocean before returning to the Nature Center. Easy 1.5 miles.

It was a perfect day for preschool families to explore the nature trail. We didn’t see any crows, but we saw many songbirds flying about and a turtle swimming in the pond.

The sky was mostly clear and the reflections on the pond were lovely yesterday afternoon.
There are some puddles and muddy areas on the east side of the nature trail. Take care when walking the loop.

Preschool Nature Storytime is Monday!

It’s all about CROWS —
Come read, sing and learn about the American Crow this month. After creating a paper crow to take home, we will walk the nature trail to see if we can spot any in the trees or flying by.

Buena Vista Audubon loves having school groups come for a field trip! Today, Empressa Elementary School 3rd graders were at the center learning about bird adaptations. They presented the BVAS Nature Guides with this “thank you” note afterwards.
