TERI Chief Program Officer, John McCarthy, Ed.D., recently traveled to Washington, D.C. for the ANCOR 2026 Policy Summit and Hill Day, representing TERI students, families, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), and our broader community.
John met with California Senators and congressional representatives from our district to advocate for policies that directly impact the people we serve and the workforce that supports them.
He urged lawmakers to support the HCBS Relief Act of 2025 and the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act, two pieces of legislation that are critical to protecting access to community-based services and strengthening wages for the DSP workforce.
Advocacy helps ensure the voices of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and the professionals who support them are heard in Washington.
You can make your voice heard, too. Visit www.ancor.org to learn more and take action.
