Yesterday's homecoming for 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines (2/11) was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our Marines and the strength of the community that stands behind them. As families anxiously scanned the crowd, waiting for that first glimpse of their loved ones, months of separation gave way to tears, embraces, and smiles that spoke louder than words. The atmosphere was filled with pride, gratitude, and relief as Marines returned home to the people who had supported them every step of the journey. It was a privilege to play even a small role in welcoming them back.
Supporting the event with a simple hot dog BBQ became far more meaningful than serving a meal. It provided an opportunity to bring people together, share in the celebration, and honor the commitment and resilience of the Marines and their families. Watching reunions unfold while friends, spouses, children, and fellow service members gathered around plates of food highlighted what homecoming is truly about: reconnecting, rebuilding precious moments, and recognizing the extraordinary service of those who answer the nation's call. The day was filled with emotion, camaraderie, and appreciation, making it an unforgettable welcome home for 2/11. 🇺🇸
