Flag Day invites us to reflect on what the Stars and Stripes represent: service, sacrifice, and the responsibility we share to care for one another.

For more than a century, NMCRS has stood beside Sailors, Marines, and their families who live those values every day. Our work is rooted in dignity, stability, and compassion, helping strengthen the people and families who serve beneath the nation’s flag.

June 6, 1944. D-Day. Allied forces landed in Normandy in a pivotal moment of World War II.

For NMCRS, days like this are a reminder of who we are here for. Behind every mission is a person, a family, and a community carrying the weight of service. For more than a century, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society has stood with Sailors, Marines, and their families through every challenge and every new beginning, with support rooted in dignity, hope, and compassion.

It feels like just yesterday we said goodbye to a volunteer and now we have to do it again. Justin has been with us for about two years, but he is starting his next adventure across the country. Fridays won't feel the same without Justin at our front desk. Our whole office, especially our Deputy Director who is his Aunt Cindy, will miss Justin but we wish him safe travels and great success in this next chapter.

On National Maritime Day, we recognize the Sailors and military families whose lives are deeply shaped by service at sea. ⚓ Behind every deployment, underway period, and homecoming is a family navigating long separations, constant change, and the challenges that come with military life.

At NMCRS, we are proud to support Sailors, Marines, and their loved ones through every chapter; from financial assistance during unexpected hardship to resources that help families stay strong while their service member is away. Today, we honor the strength of those who serve at sea and the families who serve alongside them.
