Beloved Communities Network

Beloved Communities Network Our vision is to cultivate a pathway to transform the culture of violence, domination and extraction into a culture of collective thriving and regeneration.

The Beloved Communities Network is a continuation of the years of work and wisdom that went into building the Transitions Initiative. As we continue on this journey of transitioning to a world of love, interdependence and resilience, the Beloved Communities Network will build from the foundation that has been laid,
while also strengthening, reinforcing and designing new ways to leap into the worl

d we imagine. Beloved Community is not ours in conception. The concept is rooted in the legacy of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Grace Lee Boggs and others, and is carried forward through many people investing in the idea that we can live in a world of economic and social justice. With the imagination we bring to this work, we envision a holistic approach that includes leading with bold vision and values, embodied practice, radical connection and strategic navigation. We know that now is a time of great transition and change. Around the globe
we see unprecedented climate disruption and upheaval across economic, political, and cultural systems. We are all facing uncertainty and seeking paths to a future we can believe in. In this time we also feel a calling, an invitation, a possibility, beyond what we can presently see. We have the capacity to answer this call. We have the capacity to bring forth a future that is kicking to be born. We have the capacity to be that future, to be the power and strength of our vision, our purpose, and our relationships. Our communities are calling on us to recognize our undeniable interdependence and make a courageous commitment to love. Our mutual future depends on generating new solutions that reflect this recognition and commitment.

We’re honored to share that the Oakland Horizon Story Project has received support from RWJFoundation!

The Oakland Horizon Story Project is a community-rooted initiative working to imagine and build pathways toward long-term collective thriving in Oakland through storytelling, futures thinking, systems analysis, and community engagement.

Rooted in the work of Norma Wong and Collective Acceleration, this project brings together residents, organizers, artists, and cross-sector partners to help shape a shared vision for Oakland’s future, and identify the leverage points, strategies, and prototypes needed to move toward it.

We are grateful to have joined so many inspiring leaders, practitioners, and changemakers at the 2026 Trust in Practice Summit

Hosted by the Aspen Institute and the Alliance for Social Trust, the summit brought together leaders, practitioners, and changemakers from across the country to explore how we build trust, strengthen belonging, and create communities where everyone can thrive.

We're honored to have been part of these important conversations and inspired by the opportunity to connect with leaders such as Dr. Uché Blackstock and Ade Salami, along with so many others working to strengthen the social fabric of our communities.

Thank you to Aspen Institute and Alliance for Social Trust for the invitation and for creating a space for learning, connection, and collective action.

We’re excited to welcome Facing In as a new network partner of Beloved Communities Network.

Facing In supports individuals and communities impacted by trauma, conflict, and harm to move from separation and isolation toward deeper connection, with more dignity, authenticity, and accountability, in service of collective liberation.

Their work spans conflict transformation, healing and therapeutic support, ritual and spiritual practice, and untangling whiteness – all grounded in a commitment to transforming harm into healing and division into connection.

We’re grateful to be in relationship and excited for what we’ll build together.

We are also excited to share that we are launching our Beloved Community Farm in partnership with Tandi Family Farms! We are looking for volunteers to join us on February 21 from 11:00 AM–5:00 PM to help prepare and build the garden! This will be a hands-on workday filled with shared labor, learning, and connection, followed by a gathering and shared dinner. Following sunset, we will also honor Ramadan and the Muslim community members who are fasting, holding space for reflection, nourishment, and togetherness.

This new garden program is an invitation to grow food, deepen relationships, and practice Beloved Community through land stewardship and collective care.

We hope you’ll join us as we plant the seeds – both literal and metaphorical – of this next chapter of our work.
