Our vision is to cultivate a pathway to transform the culture of violence, domination and extraction into a culture of collective thriving and regeneration.

The Beloved Communities Network is a continuation of the years of work and wisdom that went into building the Transitions Initiative. As we continue on this journey of transitioning to a world of love, interdependence and resilience, the Beloved Communities Network will build from the foundation that has been laid,
while also strengthening, reinforcing and designing new ways to leap into the world we imagine. Beloved Community is not ours in conception. The concept is rooted in the legacy of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Grace Lee Boggs and others, and is carried forward through many people investing in the idea that we can live in a world of economic and social justice. With the imagination we bring to this work, we envision a holistic approach that includes leading with bold vision and values, embodied practice, radical connection and strategic navigation. We know that now is a time of great transition and change. Around the globe  we see unprecedented climate disruption and upheaval across economic, political, and cultural systems. We are all facing uncertainty and seeking paths to a future we can believe in. In this time we also feel a calling, an invitation, a possibility, beyond what we can presently see. We have the capacity to answer this call. We have the capacity to bring forth a future that is kicking to be born. We have the capacity to be that future, to be the power and strength of our vision, our purpose, and our relationships. Our communities are calling on us to recognize our undeniable interdependence and make a courageous commitment to love. Our mutual future depends on generating new solutions that reflect this recognition and commitment.

Tomorrow! Life Is Living is happening at Little Bobby Hutton Park (DeFremery Park) in West Oakland, from 11AM-4PM, and we'll be there alongside the amazing Bruce Lee Foundation! We were fortunate to collaborate with the Foundation on Camp Bruce Lee this past summer, and we’re looking forward to joining them again for such an important and exciting event.

This year's Life Is Living will be focused on the theme “A Party for Self Defense,” and will include conversation with Shannon Lee and Professor Steve McCutchen, moderated by Jeff Chang. The conversation will explore the legacy of Bruce Lee, the Black Panther Party and the history of self-defense in Oakland.

There will also be martial arts, workshops, music, art and more throughout the day.

The event is free and open to everyone. If you’re around, come by and say hello. We’d love to see you there.

Meet Your Harvest Fest MC, Breanna Hatcher!

We're excited to have Breanna Hatcher joining us as our MC for Harvest Fest on October 7!

Breanna is a leadership coach, facilitator, and trainer with over 15 years of experience helping leaders and organizations grow and thrive. She also serves as Program Director of Leadership San Leandro, a community leadership program dedicated to developing local leaders and strengthening community connections.

Help Us Get the Beloved Community Garden Ready for Fall!

Join Beloved Communities Network and Tandi Family Farms for a morning of gardening, community, and good food! We’ll clear summer plants, prepare garden beds, set up compost stations, and install rainwater capture systems before gathering for a celebratory chili and salad lunch.

Facing In is a growing community of facilitators, healers, ritualists, and practitioners who are coming together to deepen their work, support one another, and explore what becomes possible through collective practice.

Over the past year, the community has been taking shape through conversation, relationship-building, and collaboration. What began as an idea is now emerging as a space where people who spend their lives caring for others can connect, learn, and grow alongside peers who share a similar commitment.

Beloved Communities Network is honored to serve as Facing In's incubator as the project continues to evolve. We're grateful to be in community with Facing In and the many practitioners helping bring this work to life.
