Fall Featured BIPOC Playmate
Meet Theresa Cunningham
Meet Theresa Cunningham, a storyteller, performer, and passionate advocate for healing through creative expression. Theresa’s work reflects the transformative power of finding your voice, sharing your story, and creating space for connection, with ourselves, our communities, and our higher power.
Here is a Q&A with Theresa in her own words.
The Playful HUE: What brings you the most joy? *
Theresa: Expressing brings me the most joy, whether that be through song, dance, writing, or storytelling. I enjoy expressing my own stories, but I also enjoy expressing those of others.
The Playful HUE: What is one thing you would like to contribute to this community? *
Theresa: I would like to support healing in others. Listen, share ways to express, encourage the expansion of connection to themselves, their communities, and their higher power.
The Playful HUE: What advice would you give your younger self? *
Theresa: I would tell my younger self to be patient and remain strong, that everything that I experience is bringing me closer to whom God is calling me to be, which is greater than I can even imagine.
The Playful HUE: Anything else you’d like the InterPlay Global Majority-BIPOC and greater Community to know about you? *
Theresa: I just performed my first one-woman show this summer. It was called Swallowing My Shout. It was essentially an extended Big Body Story that discusses negotiating life and love after surviving childhood sexual abuse. InterPlay helped me not only tell this story, but also get to the place personally where I could tell this story. I will always be grateful.
