Right now, during the largest uprising in Iran since 1979, the government has cut off communication for 92 million people. The internet is effectively dark—VPNs and Tor are blocked at the protocol level, and even Starlink is being jammed.
In 2016, De Novo Group built Murmur for exactly this situation: a fully open-source, delay-tolerant mesh network (DTN) app that lets people communicate anonymously, without internet, cell towers, or centralized infrastructure, and with defenses against coordinated disinformation.
We've revived it for modern Android. It's an all-volunteer sprint, moving as fast as we responsibly can.
We need Android testers and help getting the app into Iran.
