We are setting up a small (~5 people) center somewhere in a beautiful, clean, peaceful, uncongested, and unpolluted part of India.

We know that happy team-members are not only more productive but also produce a solid, high-quality solutions, which we care about dearly.
Until this new center comes to fruition, we’re all working remotely, which isn’t always great, but allows for much freedom and flexibility which we plan to preserve also once a co-located center is established.
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Oversee all “classic” system administration activities, with strong networking focus -
Environments (multiple Linux-OS flavors):
Cloud --- mostly Digital-Ocean and AWS.
Distributed embedded systems --- in-house developed network probes, middleboxes and endpoints.
Compute clusters --- Small in-house built, based on Proxmox and Ceph.
Roles and activities:
Backup and recovery, solutions and procedures --- local, off-site, online (snapshots), rsync, DB backup (Mongo), etc.
Research, design and deploy high-availability and continuity solutions.
Work with our in-house software development team to refine, improve, test and quality-check systems to backup and recover thousands of field-distributed networking devices (routers, switches, radios, smart-power units, etc).
Systems security -- patch, lock-down, minimize/limit unneeded functionality, etc.
Network security --- firewalls, filters, intrusion detection systems and DPI.
Remote access - setup and manage VPNs (mostly OpenVPN and PPTP).
Manage and configure networking equipment -- routers, switches (especially Mikrotik, Ubiquiti, Cisco, pfSense, Linux and BSD networking), employing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, RSTP, PPTP. PPPOE, L2TP, Radius, Syslog, SNMP.
Manage, configure and deploy network monitoring systems --- Icinga/Nagios, SmokePing, Cacti, OpenNMS,
Manage DNS servers (internal and external), DHCP servers and proxies, etc.
Research, design, deploy, integrate and refine systems to support ongoing business operations of a large ISP, using open-source tools.
Integration, and refinement of Open-Source network monitoring tools and/or integration of our in-house developed software with third-party network monitoring tools such as Icinga, Graphite, Smokeping, Cacti, etc.
Management. Ensure that configurations and procedures are disciplined and well documented. Mentor, train and handhold junior IT staff. /
Qualifications - We Are Looking For People Who Have:
5+ years of experience in a professional setting.
Strong communication skills and ability to grasp and convey complex product requirements or technical concepts.
Computer networks --- multi-layer routing/switching principles and hands-on experience.
Familiarity with networking equipment --- routers, switches (especially Mikrotik, Ubiquiti, Cisco, pfSense, Linux and BSD networking).
Familiarity with networking protocols --- MPLS, OSPF, BGP, RSTP, VRRP.
Network monitoring --- especially through open source tools, Nagios/Icinga, Cacti, Smokeping, OpenNMS, Graphite, Prometheus.
Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl, bash or other language.
Use of versioning control tools, such as git and github,
Cost-sensitive, non-corporate, environment - much of the innovation expected of you would boil down to lowering costs by designing and integrating in-house solutions.

A keen interest and ability to learn.
Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Can act as a supervisory and or team lead role
Optional experience and skills:
Experience with modern software development methodologies and practices, like iterative agile development, test-driven development, git flow and so on.
Strong resource management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities.
Ability to work with distributed teams, and experience with distributed team management tools.
Proficiency with full stack development, OS, back-end, front-end and everything in between.
Familiarity with languages and technologies needed for web services development, including (but not limited to) Node.js, Go, Python, Java, REST, SQL and NoSQL Databases.
Wireless networking and general radio communications, antennas, radio-modems, modulations.
Experience with scripting languages and process automation of remote devices.
Familiarity with these tools and solutions:
Jira, Splunk, Ansible
Worked and/or studies abroad is a plus.
