This Memorial Day, we honor the legacy, courage, and service of the Buffalo Soldiers.

As some of the first Black regiments in the U.S. Army, Buffalo Soldiers played a significant role in protecting national parks, public lands, and the American frontier while serving a country that often denied them equal rights and recognition.

Today, we remember their contributions, resilience, and enduring connection to the outdoors.

Because of YOU, we made waves together. ๐ŸŒŠ

In honor of National Learn to Swim Day, our Outdoor Afro community came together to raise an incredible $21,313 to support swim instruction and water safety education through our Making Waves initiative.

These funds will help provide life-saving swim lessons, increase water safety awareness, and create opportunities for more individuals and families to build confidence and joy in and around water.

Thank you to every donor, advocate, partner, and supporter who helped make this campaign a success. Your generosity is helping create safer communities while opening doors to healing, recreation, wellness, and connection through water.๐Ÿ’™

Together, we are changing the narrative and ensuring more people have the opportunity to experience the freedom and joy that comes with learning to swim.

When Bryson first came to the water, it wasnโ€™t easy. Like so many children, he faced uncertainty and fear. But through Outdoor Afroโ€™s Making Waves program, something powerful began to shift.
With guidance, patience, and encouragement, Bryson found his confidence. What once felt overwhelming became a source of joy, strength, and pride.

This is what learning to swim can do.
Itโ€™s not just a skill.
Itโ€™s confidence. Itโ€™s empowerment. Itโ€™s freedom.

Today, Brysonโ€™s story is one of transformation. And there are so many more children just waiting for that same opportunity.

๐ŸŽฅ Watch Brysonโ€™s journey:
๐Ÿ’ง $200 helps one person learn to swim
๐Ÿ’ง $400 supports a child and caregiver

Make a gift today and help another child discover their confidence in the water.
