PICO California is the state’s largest faith-based community organizing network. Established in 1994, PICO California brings together clergy and community leaders from throughout California to affect meaningful budget and policy change at the state level. Over the past 20 years, our organizing and policy advocacy has resulted in increased investments in education and healthcare, and in programs and services that are critical for low-income and working families. Together, we represent 480 congregations and 450,0000 families of diverse economic, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds committed to advancing racial and economic justice in California. PICO California rallies against any policy that separates families and devastates communities. We are committed to connecting communities of color in solidarity across the common struggle of regaining and maintaining full and enfranchised citizenship. Calling all Clergy, Faith Leaders, Spiritual and Tribal Elders!

Join us on October 27th at 6pm for a virtual multi-faith gathering for prayer, reflection, and preparation as we approach Election Day. This space is where faith leaders can better understand the current political and election environment, consider how to help their communities participate safely and in a nonpartisan way, and prepare to remain engaged both through and after the election.

Throughout the evening, we will reflect on a simple belief: Voting is sacred because people are sacred. We will pray for our democracy and communities, hear an update on the election environment and on-the-ground concerns, and share concrete ways faith and spiritual leaders can support voter participation - including getting out the vote, congregational voting pledges, and poll chaplaincy.

Llamada a todo el clero, líderes de fe, ancianos espirituales y tribales!

Acompáñanos el 27 de octubre a las 18:00 h en un encuentro virtual multireligioso dedicado a la oración, la reflexión y la preparación de cara al día de las elecciones. Este espacio está pensado para que los líderes de fe puedan comprender mejor el contexto político y electoral actual, reflexionar sobre cómo ayudar a sus comunidades a participar de forma segura y no partidista, y prepararse para seguir comprometidos tanto durante como después de las elecciones.

Durante la reunión, reflexionaremos sobre una sencilla creencia: votar es sagrado porque las personas son sagradas. We believe every person is sacred. Caring for our neighbors includes helping build communities where families can afford to stay and have a voice in the decisions that shape their lives.

We bring that responsibility to the ballot, asking how each measure helps us care for one another. We have big decisions at the ballot box this year and we want you to be informed.

On September 27th, San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP), Diocese of San Diego, and Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego, led their neighbors through a multifaith prayer vigil and procession to honor the dignity and sacredness of migrants and refugees.

8,000 people joined forces to show what love and solidarity look like.

Across the Central Valley, Faith in the Valley brought faith leaders and county registrars together for five community meetings focused on building voting confidence in their communities and helping strengthen trust in the upcoming general election.

As communities prepare for the election, they shared a powerful reminder: Voting is sacred because people are sacred. When we vote, we have a responsibility to honor the dignity, voices, and well-being of our neighbors.

En todo el Valle Central, Faith in the Valley reunió a líderes de fe y registradores de los condados en cinco reuniones comunitarias para fortalecer la confianza de los votantes en sus comunidades y ayudar a fortalecer la confianza en las próximas elecciones generales.

On Saturday, September 26, the San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP) hosted the Voting Is Sacred Forum, with over 150 core leaders and guests. They reflected on this moment in time and organized to build toward action alongside their neighbors.

Together, they discussed their role in supporting voter participation, voter access, and the infrastructure needed to protect voters, and the democratic process.

SDOP made it clear: we should all remain informed and ready to protect that which is sacred.

El sábado 26 de septiembre, San Diego Organizing Project (SDOP) llevó a cabo el foro Votar es Sagrado, el cual contó con la presencia de más de 150 líderes e invitados. Reflexionaron sobre este momento histórico y se organizaron para trabajar junto a sus vecinos con miras a la acción.

Juntos, dialogaron sobre su papel en el apoyo a la participación del electorado, el acceso al voto y la infraestructura necesaria para proteger tanto a los votantes como al proceso democrático.

Californians continue to win! AB 2599, The Truth in Disclosure Act, authored by Assemblymember Isaac G. Bryan, has been signed into law. This new law will require large corporations to search their records and submit sworn disclosures about their historical involvement in slavery-related transactions.

We’re celebrating this win and everyone who organized and helped make this form of reparations a reality.

Californianos siguen ganando! AB 2599, la Ley de la Veracidad en la Divulgación, presentada por el asambleísta Isaac G. Bryan, se convirtió oficialmente en ley.
