In the wake of the Supreme Court's Louisiana v. Callais decision, Black and Brown voters across the South are facing renewed battles over voting rights, redistricting, and political representation. The impacts stretch far beyond state lines and could reshape who has a voice in our democracy for years to come.

That's why we're launching 🚨 Democracy: What's At Stake🚨 a series of virtual town halls bringing together subject matter experts to unpack what's happening, what's at stake, and how you can get involved. These conversations will explore how voting rights, housing rights, public safety, AI, and energy freedom intersect with our justice-impacted communities and those with felony records who are still eligible to vote for the midterm elections.

The first conversation What's At Stake: Voting Rights & Democracy will take place on June 16th at 6pm ET.

We will be joined by:
⚫️ George Chidi, Politics & Democracy Reporter at The Guardian
⚫️ Victoria "Tori" Wegner, Louisiana v. Callais SCOTUS Attorney-Organizer at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund
⚫️ Robert Richardson, Louisiana Advocate, Rich Family Ministries
⚫️ Sean Wilson, Senior Director of Organizing at Dream.Org
Moderator: Rachael Payton, Senior Director of Communications & Marketing at Dream.Org

Register today and stay tuned for more town hall dates! https://www.mobilize.us/dream/event/965178/

Green jobs aren't niche anymore.

Last month's Green Jobs Pavilion in San Francisco showed firsthand how fast the sector is growing and how many pathways into this work actually exist.

🌱200+ people showed out at Impulse Labs to learn how to transition into or enter the green workforce with 15+ employer partners.

The biggest takeaway: the clean energy transition needs everyone. Trade skills, policy minds, community organizers, data nerds, educators. All of it. We need you!

Big thanks to Kristy Drutman and the Green Jobs Board, the speakers, and everyone who made this space so welcoming and impactful!

Bay Area! Looking for a new career? The Green Reentry Incubator is where second chances meet the frontlines of the clean energy economy 🌱

In partnership with U.S. Bank Foundation, the Green Reentry Incubator connects justice-impacted individuals to career coaching, environmental education, professional networking, and mentorship to build pathways to good-paying green careers.

The incubator breaks cycles of incarceration and opens doors to the clean energy economy. Each participant becomes a proof point that investing in people, not punishment, is how we build safer, healthier, and more resilient communities 🤝

After 13 years of visionary leadership, our CEO Nisha Anand will be transitioning as CEO. Under Nisha’s leadership, Dream.Org deepened our commitment to bringing people together across differences to tackle some of the country’s toughest challenges, from criminal justice reform to climate and economic opportunity.

Nisha's leadership strengthened our national impact by helping pass 40+ pieces of legislation, expanding opportunity in tech and climate, and contributing to nearly 60,000 people returning home from prison.

We are deeply grateful for Nisha’s leadership, vision, and unwavering belief that a better future is something we build together. Her impact on this organization, our staff, partners, and communities across the country will be felt for years to come.

As Dream.Org enters its next chapter, our mission remains the same: closing prison doors and opening doors of opportunity. Bringing people together across racial, social, & politics to create a better future. Thank you, Nisha, for helping move this work and this movement forward đź’ś

Congress is calling CORCA (The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act) a “shoplifting” bill but it would actually expand surveillance powers for federal organizations, like DHS and ICE, private corporations, local police, and retailers, and give them access to your personal data with no oversight and no accountability.

We’ve seen time and again who gets targeted with new surveillance technology: Black and Brown communities already disproportionately targeted in retail spaces. They’re more likely to be included in - and misidentified - by facial recognition databases while CORCA would assure authorities aren’t held responsible.

Sign the petition to STOP CORCA and protect everyone’s personal data! share.dream.org/s/CRWhVeq5

Charlotte provides an important setting to discuss what responsible growth should look like and how communities can stay informed and engaged as this infrastructure expands across the state.

The event will bring together local leaders, technologists, advocates, neighbors, artists, and partners, creating space for connections and conversations.
