From our Love in Action Gala to an unforgettable day at Oracle Park! ⚾️

The Wilcox family, who supported our Love in Action Gala by winning the Willie McCovey Suite auction experience, enjoyed an incredible Giants vs. Dodgers game this past Saturday.

They watched the game from the private Willie McCovey Suite, a space reserved for Giants legend Willie McCovey to watch games, located right next to the KNBR broadcast suite. The suite is not open to the public, making this a truly rare and special experience.

And they had some incredible surprise guests join them: Bruce Bochy, Javier Lopez, Mike Krukow, Jon Miller, Will Clark, Dave Dravecky, and Buster Posey.

We’re grateful to the Wilcox family for their generous support of Catholic Charities East Bay and to everyone who contributed to our Gala. Their generosity helps us continue putting Love in Action throughout the East Bay.

We were grateful to welcome 135 people to the Know Your Rights Immigration Forum this past Saturday. Those in attendance included our clients, community members, partner organizations, and others who came together to learn, share resources, and support our immigrant community.

We’re thankful to everyone who helped make the forum possible. Events like this help make sure our neighbors have access to trusted information, legal resources, and support when they need it most.

At the Love in Action Gala, we proudly announced the inaugural Pat Elam Catholic Charities East Bay Community Service Award and presented it to Dora Segura.

Created in memory of Patricia “Pat” Elam, this award will shine a spotlight on an individual whose compassion, commitment, and hands-on service have made a meaningful difference for people across the East Bay. The annual award will honor an East Bay community member whose generosity extends beyond a single moment or act of kindness, reflecting an ongoing dedication to strengthening the lives within our community.

More than a recognition of service, The Pat Elam Community Service Award is a reminder of what is possible when people choose to lead with compassion and put their love into action.

As the longest tenured employee at Catholic Charities East Bay, Dora has dedicated over 25 years to CCEB and is currently the Housing Division Program Manager. Through her years of service, Dora has helped strengthen the lives of countless individuals and families across the East Bay. Her dedication is a true example of what it means to put Love in Action. 💙

Thank you for supporting the Catholic Charities East Bay Gala last Saturday at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland! Your presence and generosity helped elevate the evening and generate critical support for East Bay individuals and families in need.

It was inspiring to come together with caring donors, community leaders, employees, and volunteers to celebrate Love in Action. Together, we raised nearly $400,000 to help our neighbors access stable housing, immigration legal services, and mental health support across Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

At a time when so many of our neighbors are facing housing insecurity, rising costs, and other challenges, your generosity makes a real difference and provides our clients with better futures.

Thank you for attending the gala and for your continued support of Catholic Charities East Bay.

We’re delighted to welcome Deacon Michael Gallagher to Catholic Charities East Bay as our new Director of Development!

Michael brings extensive experience in major gifts fundraising, strategic planning, and donor and community engagement. Throughout his career, he has built meaningful relationships with donors, corporate leaders, clergy, and community partners while connecting people with opportunities to make a lasting impact.

Michael spent many years in sales and business development, including significant time with Opportunity International, a global Christian organization focused on helping families overcome poverty. His career also includes leadership and sales roles with ADP, WorkflowOne, R.R. Donnelley, and Veritiv Corporation.

Michael’s commitment to service extends deeply into his faith and community. On October 11, 2025, he was ordained a Deacon for the Diocese of Oakland and serves at the Catholic Community of Pleasanton, where he has been a parishioner for more than 50 years. His vocation is grounded in service, compassion, and stewardship.

Please join us in giving Michael a warm welcome to the CCEB family! We’re excited to have his leadership, experience, and passion for service on our team. 🙏

This summer, 8 interns worked alongside our legal team across our Richmond, Concord, and Oakland offices and helped open 297 new immigration cases. They delivered more than $200,000 in free legal services to people who might otherwise have nowhere to turn for representation.

Their work touched nearly every part of our immigration practice, from consultations and DACA renewals to naturalization, U visas, and asylum cases.

We’re deeply grateful to the supporters who make this internship program possible. Their generosity is helping expand access to justice across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties and giving the next generation of legal professionals an opportunity to serve their community.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of St. Isidore Parish and School, backpacks filled with school supplies are now in the hands of children and families in our community. ✏️🎒

We’re grateful to see this act of generosity come full circle, and ensure our young students are better prepared to thrive in school.

Thank you, St. Isidore, for putting Love in Action and reminding us what’s possible when we come together. 💙
