We're excited to welcome the Northfield Union of Youth (NUY) as a participating nonprofit in Dancing with the Northfield Stars!

For more than 30 years, NUY has empowered young people in our community by providing a safe, supportive environment where youth are heard, valued, and encouraged to lead. The Key Youth Center provides more than a place to hang out; it offers mental health support, wellness and recovery support, and access to essentials.

On November 7, NUY representatives will be dancing to support the next generation of Northfield leaders. 💃🕺 Please join us in welcoming Northfield Union of Youth to Dancing with the Northfield Stars!

☕️ Coffee & Conversations is HAPPENING TOMORROW! 🏳️‍🌈

Join us for our monthly gathering this Saturday (and every 3rd Saturday of the month) from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

This month, in honor of Pride, we are excited to host a conversation with Kelli, the Executive Director of NUY.

We’ll be diving into a wide range of meaningful topics, including:
✨ Their personal journey leaving Florida to move to a more inclusive, welcoming state.
✨ Their experience navigating life and love as the parent of a q***r child.
✨ Their daily work at NUY serving local youth, including a large demographic of q***r kids who rely on these safe spaces.
✨ Their advocacy work on the Human Rights Commission and the incredible honor of being named this year's Northfield Pride Ambassador!

There will be plenty of open time to just chat, connect, share space, and ask questions.

🎨 Bonus: Stick around right after Coffee & Conversations for exclusive tours of The Lock!

🍪 Light refreshments will be served.
🏡 Who is invited? This event is completely free, open to the entire community, and everyone is welcome to attend.

This is community. This is NUY. 💙

Staff, youth, and volunteers have been working hard with Carleton College Center for Community and Civic Engagement at Carleton College's Laird Stadium for Lighten Up!, a massive community event dedicated to reuse, repurpose, and sustainability. It truly takes a village to pull off the 2 weeks of intense prep leading up to the sale, and this year's setup for NUY is almsot wrapped! (2 shifts to go on Tuesday from 9-12 and 1-4)

Every year, Carleton students donate their unneeded dorm room furniture, clothing, books, and household goods to keep reusable items out of the landfill. We've been sorting through nearly 50,000 pounds of items to get everything ready for the public!

The sale is this weekend, so come out and find some bargains while supporting local nonprofits:

A huge shoutout to our youth for sharing the heavy lifting, our staff for stepping up and taking shifts, and our absolutely incredible volunteers. We are deeply grateful and a little exhausted... but it is so worth it. This work only happens because of our amazing community. Thank you all! 🙌✨
