There are not enough words to describe the energy and warmth from this evening. We can’t stop thinking about all of the memories already made and all to come. What a way to celebrate seven decades of service from the women of faith who helped shape all of the work LSA does. The work never ends, but neither do the legacies of all who came before us.

A special thanks to Liz King and Kings Carriage House - New York for the florals, the charcuterie, and everything in between! Thank you to Lazaro for being an amazing photographer! Another special shoutout to Church of St Ignatius Loyola New York for hosting us on this memorable evening! A big appreciation to Convent of the Sacred Heart for the lovely tribute to Sr. Judy Garson! And a final thank you to all of our supporters—old and new—we cannot do this without you. Here’s to continuing to uplift East Harlem families and children!

As September ends, we have been reflecting on and celebrating Older Adult Center Month. Through Harlem PACT alone, we work with about 1,000 residents across 11 buildings, primarily older adults, through services such as those pictured.

Additionally, we have served over 800 older adults through our Food Pantry this year! Together, we uplift older adults through wellness checks, bilingual support, navigating complex systems, and nutritious meals.

As new SNAP and Medicaid work requirements take effect, we’re launching our United for Benefits Access website designed to give community-based organizations and individuals clear, practical information to understand and respond to changes affecting these critical benefits.

Within the site, you’ll be able to explore the SNAP Resources Hub, which includes practical guidance on exemptions, qualifying activities, reporting hours, volunteer opportunities, and what to do if benefits have already stopped.

Millions of New Yorkers could face new hurdles to accessing their essential benefits. United Way of New York City is taking action to help families prepare and connect to the support they need by mobilizing partners across the city through our United for Benefits Access initiative.

Even miles and states away, their presence will be felt 💛

While we are sorry to say goodbye to Sr.Deysi and her Community of The Little Sisters of the Assumption we are grateful for their presence in our community over these many years. We wish them many blessings as they enter a new phase of their religious life. We also recognize they will always be a part of our hearts and life here at Saint Francis de Sales.
