A huge shoutout to the Wells Fargo team who rolled up their sleeves to give back to the community! 👏

Volunteers built planter boxes and brought color to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, located across the street from our historic Mascot Flats building. They put some finishing touches on the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter mural and interior murals for the Church’s shared community spaces.

This project is part of our Community Impact Program, which revitalizes shared spaces across the city. We’re so grateful for ’s hands-on support and our longtime partnership! 🙌

What makes this NYC building so special? 🏠☀️
Mascot Flats was Habitat for Humanity’s first project in New York City and the first-ever Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. Four decades later, we’re back to continue the work that was started here!

During NYC Climate Week, Habitat NYC and Westchester, Habitat for Humanity of New York State, Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Give Solar, and Solar One Nonprofit hosted a solar barnraising to launch our work of putting solar panels on Habitat homes. Neighbors, volunteers, and partners came together for homeowner stories, good food, and a valiant effort to carry donated solar panels up to the roof.

Our goal: reduce the energy burden for Habitat families and show why affordable housing belongs at the center of the clean energy transition. 

Thank you to our partners and community members who made this historic day so special!

🎉 Introducing our new Board Chair: Kirsten R. J. Sibilia!

Kirsten is a partner at Dattner Architects, where her work spans affordable housing, schools, parks, libraries, and more, all rooted in a belief that thoughtful design should serve communities. Her Habitat journey started back in 2010 through Dattner's work on our Atlantic Avenue Residences, and she's served on our Board since 2022.

"Housing is a fundamental human right," Kirsten says. As Chair, she'll help us grow our impact and expand what's possible for affordable homeownership across NYC and Westchester. 🏡

As New York begins developing its next Comprehensive Housing Plan, the conversation focused on the policies, partnerships, and investments needed to expand housing opportunity across the state.

There's no single solution to the housing crisis. Expanding affordable homeownership takes preservation, lending, innovation, advocacy, and collaboration.

✨ Introducing Ahmed Tigani, our Habitat House Party Public Service Award honoree.

From affordable housing to neighborhood investment, Ahmed has spent his career helping shape a stronger New York. Today, as Commissioner of the NYC Department of Buildings, he leads efforts to advance building safety, operational excellence, and innovation. Previously, at NYC Housing Preservation & Development, he helped drive affordable housing production, preservation, and community investment initiatives.

We can't wait to celebrate Ahmed and his contributions to the communities New Yorkers call home.
