SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) provides children from underserved communities with life changing opportunities through the experience of summer camp. SCOPE helps fund camp scholarships “camperships” to send children who commit to staying in school to nonprofit, resident camps which will empower them to develop to their full potential. SCOPE reinforces the connection between ac

ademic achievement and the enriched recreational and social educational experiences at summer camp. By making a long-term commitment to our SCOPE campers, we seek to inspire and empower them to succeed as individuals and make a positive impact on their families and in their home communities. SCOPE campers are children who are enrolled in public school or public charter school (ages 7 – 16) and qualify for the USDA Free or Reduced Lunch Program. They attend nonprofit, resident camps in the New York/Tri-State area, Midwest, Southeast, and Southwest. SCOPE raises funds from foundations, businesses, individual gifts and fundraising events

2. SCOPE allocates funds to participating SCOPE camps to provide camp scholarships

3. Participating camps enroll campers; campers are selected in partnership with public schools, public charter schools, and community agencies

4. SCOPE campers make a commitment to stay in school in order to return to camp summer after summer

5. SCOPE campers who graduate from high school will be eligible for a college scholarship

At camp, kindness is something children can feel: a warm welcome, a helping hand, a new friendship, and the confidence that comes from knowing they belong.

At SCOPE, kindness also means creating access to overnight summer camp for children and teens from under-resourced communities, so more young people have the opportunity to build confidence, form lasting friendships, and discover what is possible.

Today, we’re celebrating the compassion, inclusion, and connection that make camp so meaningful, and everyone who helps make this moments possible.

Because every child deserves to feel welcomed, supported, and included at camp!

Summer camp visits are one of our favorite traditions.

Through our Teen Talks, we connect with campers, share SCOPE’s mission, and inspire the next generation of supporters to help pave the path to camp and beyond for children from under-resourced communities.
