A message from our International Council in Paris, France.
On this feast day, we celebrate Mary’s journey, our own journey:
«…Her Assumption gives us the certainty that a new world is being prepared; she sustains our hope and gives us the courage to dedicate ourselves with our brothers and sisters in work for the transformation of humanity ».
(LSA Rule of Life 12).
This year, several Little Sisters, including the General Council, will take part in the National Pilgrimage to Lourdes, presided over by Cardinal Vesco, Archbishop of Algiers. On this occasion, we will mark the 30th anniversary of the martyrdom of the monks of Tibhirine and remember our Sister Paul-Hélène who was assassinated in 1994.
On 15 August, our sisters in Sahalava – Fianarantsoa will celebrate 30 years of the LSA’s presence in Madagascar. We also rejoice in the commitment of 10 laypeople, members of the fraternities in Fianarantsoa, who will make their commitments.
Together with Mary, and with all of you, we will be united in prayer with you, your families and our communities, entrusting your intentions and our forthcoming General Chapter in June 2027 to God. Together with you, in our Assumption family, we will be present ‘at the humble beginnings of the Church’ (RL 12).
Together, let us open our hearts to thanksgiving, welcome God’s gift, and draw from the source of the Risen Christ that strength which enables us to be on mission and to move forward with our eyes fixed on Heaven!
A joyful Feast of the Assumption to you all! With our sisterly affection,
Nathalie and the Council
