Rob Kolar is a longtime bandleader and performer in the Los Angeles area. He has toured the world and and recorded extensively. After breaking his leg and needing to evacuate due to last year's Eaton Fire, he said "...the grant helped me buy groceries when I was struggling with no income... it's great to know musicians can be helped in these challenging times." We're here for musicians like Rob when they need help most.

Our grants pay bills directly. When musicians are going through a time of unexpected hardship, they apply with a specific bill they need help paying. Housing, medical, and dental bills are our most common grant categories, but we assist with utilities and natural disaster recovery too.

This July 4th, we celebrate America's 250th birthday. For us, it's all about the musicians. The diverse community of performers, music educators, and composers from all backgrounds are an essential part of this country's fabric, and we're honored to continue supporting them in times of need.

Last week at our "Music That Moves Us" event at Yamaha Artist Services New York. Special guests, pianist Lara Downes and the Bowlin-Cho Duo (violin and piano) lent their talents and performed virtuosic and exquisite music for a crowd of longtime and new supporters. The musical soirée was an inspiring event, and we're grateful to all who attended and supported the evening in solidarity with musicians in need. .bowlin.violin

With sadness, profound love and respect, we announce the passing of Dr. B.C. Vermeersch, Executive Director Emeritus of Musicians Foundation. For over 26 years, B.C. led the Foundation to new heights by greatly expanding the reach of the organization and providing essential financial support to thousands and thousands of musicians in need. His dedication to putting musicians first remains a guiding principle for us today, and will be for years to come. Cindy Shea leads the group Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea . She has won multiple Grammy awards and continues to perform throughout the world. When the Los Angeles fires struck in early 2025, we provided a grant to Cindy when all work was cancelled. Cindy said "many homes were completely lost and no one was having entertainment ... workload stopped abuptly, but the mortgage and bills didn't stop. Thank you to Musicians Foundation for being there when we're having a rough time during disasters like the fires and the pandemic... you have always been there!"

Longtime music educator and performer Teresa A. Pash has served her community with wonderful music and teaching for decades. After we helped with an essential bill, Teresa wrote, "Out of sheer desperation, I did a search... that's when I found Musicians Foundation as my first source of real help. While completing the application, I received a helpful and kind phone call... true understanding and compassion. As I had never applied for a grant before, I was helped when I had questions. I received a grant towards my car payment, but more than that, I recevied a sense of hope for the first time in a long while. I cannot say though you enough, Musicians Foundation! You are a bright and shining star." For well over 100 years, we've helped artists like Teresa keep the music playing.
