It is with great sadness we share the news that Dr. Igor P. Holodny, 90, passed away on July 23, 2026.
Dr. Holodny served as the President and Chairman of the Board of the Russian Children’s Welfare Society, assisting the organization to develop new programs and support disadvantaged children for nearly 60 years.
Dr. Holodny spent a significant portion of his professional career in the medical field, serving as Director of Radiation Safety and assistant professor of Clinical Radiology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He served patients in a clinical capacity while also acting as an assistant professor, helping train generations of medical students, residents, and radiology fellows.
Igor Holodny married Militsa Kiselev, the daughter of the prominent Russian Orthodox priest, Alexander Kiselev. Her family originally fled Tver, Russia, migrating through Estonia and Germany during World War II before arriving in New York in 1949. Together with his wife, Dr. Holodny spent decades honoring their roots by managing the charitable, educational, and publishing initiatives for the St. Seraphim Foundation.
The funeral services will be held at 11 am on July 27 at Novo-Diveevo Russian Orthodox Convent in Nanuet, NY.
