An active-duty Navy petty officer received humanitarian reassignment orders after a family medical crisis. The move was necessary, but it came with financial strain.

With increased care needs for their daughter and the loss of a primary caregiver, the family fell behind on housing expenses.

Through our partnership with Navy Federal Credit Union , Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society provided $2,000 to cover overdue rent, helping stabilize the family during a critical moment.

Support like this creates breathing room when it’s needed most.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation is proud to be a supporting partner of America250.

As our nation prepares to celebrate 250 years, we’re also recognizing 20 years of supporting veterans, service members, and their families.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to honoring service, recognizing sacrifice, and continuing the work to ensure the military community has the support it deserves.

Together, we celebrate this moment in our nation’s history and the people who have helped shape it.

After a year of homelessness, a Navy surviving spouse and her young daughter finally found a place to call home. Starting over came with unexpected costs.

“I was afraid of losing our home again.”

With funding from Navy Federal Credit Union, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society provided more than $1,000 to cover rent and utilities. Support like this creates stability and a way forward.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. For many veterans and military families, discussing mental health isn’t a one-time conversation. It shows up in the quiet moments. During transitions. After service ends. In the space between “I’m fine” and asking for help. With so much uncertainty in the world those challenges can feel even heavier.

According to our latest Got Your 6 Network survey more than 80% of our partners report that veterans and military families are experiencing significant mental and physical health challenge. Nearly two-thirds say there aren’t enough mental health resources to meet the need.

Support has to be consistent, accessible, and rooted in trust. We fund community-based organizations that are expanding access to care, reducing stigma, and meeting people where they are. Not just in moments of crisis, but in the day-to-day reality of navigating life after service.

May is Military Appreciation Month. At a time when conflict around the world continues to make headlines, the reality of military service feels closer to home for many of us. Behind every headline are service members stepping into uncertainty and families carrying that weight right alongside them. When that service ends the challenges don’t always stop. Transitioning home can mean navigating mental health, financial strain, and the loss of a built-in community. It’s a shift that requires ongoing support.

We invest in organizations across the country that are meeting these needs every day. is a moment to recognize service. What matters most is how we continue to show up after.
