St. John Committee

St. John Committee Formed in 2014, the St. John Committee supports the global humanitarian works of the Order of Malta, a lay religious order of the Catholic Church.

Chartered in 2014, the Order of Malta’s St. John Committee has raised critical funds for the Order’s humanitarian efforts around the world and right here in New York City. The Committee is entirely volunteer-run, and our work supports the Order's mission to uphold human dignity and care for people in need. The Committee’s premier fundraiser, the White Cross Ball of New York City, was founded in 20

15 to benefit the international works and young people of the Order of Malta. Our beneficiaries include Malteser International Americas, Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem Foundation, and Malta Camp USA, and we have in the past supported Malteser International and the Order of Malta International Summer Camp, USA Delegation. The Committee further supports the Order’s hands-on volunteer work in New York City through our Spring Knights fundraiser.

Thank you to all who joined us at Spring Knights! The sold-out evening supported the ’s service works in New York City serving the most vulnerable among us. First held in 2024, Spring Knights has helped fund the launch of the Area’s Mobile Ministry, flu vaccination clinics and care packages for people experiencing homelessness, toys for the the residents with extraordinary medical needs at Mother Cabrini Specialty Hospital for Children, and recreational programs for the residents at Mary Manning Walsh and Terence Cardinal Cooke, many of whom are battling Alzheimer’s, AIDS, and Huntington’s.

Enrique Salvo, ChM, Assistant Principal Chaplain, Order of Malta American Association and Rector, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral for special remarks. The sold-out evening supported the ’s service works in New York City serving the most vulnerable among us. Experience an unforgettable night with two ground level tickets to Pfish’s summer tour at Madison Square Garden! The winner will receive two tickets to the July 22, 24, or 25 concert (winner’s choice).

Phish was founded in 1983 when freshman Trey Anastasio posted flyers around the University of Vermont Campus, looking for musicians to form a band. (Why didn’t he use Craigslist? Unclear). Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon and Jeff Holdsworth answered the flyer and soon Phish was gigging regularly in the Burlington area. The lineup solidified in 1985, when keyboardist Page McConnell joined the group (and persuaded Anastasio and Fishman to join him at nearby Goddard College) and Holdsworth left soon after. After that, it has been a steady climb from Burlington club band to rodeo-clown backing group to regional touring act to bigger clubs, and eventually theatres and arenas worldwide. The band signed with Elektra Entertainment in late 1991 and has sold more than 8 million albums and DVDs in the United States, including fourteen studio albums and a multitude of live shows. In 2006, the band created their own record label, JEMP Records.
