Ready, Willing & Able trainees saved $874,000 of the income they earned through paid work. Those savings can mean a security deposit, transportation to a new job, or simply the freedom to plan for the future. By earning an income while preparing for permanent employment and housing, trainees begin building the financial security needed for lasting independence. Last year, Ready, Willing & Able trainees removed 6.8 million pounds of trash while keeping 115 miles of New York City streets clean each week. But “pushing the bucket” is about more than cleaning streets. Through paid work training, our participants build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to succeed in the workforce, all while providing an essential service to their fellow New Yorkers.

Getting a job is a major milestone, but lasting employment is how trainees continue building stability for themselves and their families. In 2025, 73% of graduates remained employed six months later.

Through paid work training, career essentials classes, and dedicated support, Ready, Willing & Able prepares trainees not only to enter the workforce, but to succeed in it.

We honor the lives lost and remember the tragic events that changed our world 25 years ago today.

For The Doe Fund, this anniversary carries a special meaning. In the days and weeks following September 11th, Ready, Willing & Able trainees joined the massive cleanup effort at Ground Zero, helping their fellow New Yorkers in a moment of extraordinary need.

Today, we carry forward the spirit of service, dignity, and community that brought New Yorkers together in the face of unimaginable loss.

School is back in session... and 22 children living in our affordable and supportive housing went in style today, after generous Doe Fund supporters bought them back-to-school supplies. Thank you to everyone who helped them start the year off right!

Thank you, 12 The Bronx, for highlighting our Casanova Residence groundbreaking earlier this week!

We're proud to share that this is The Doe Fund's 11th affordable housing development in the Bronx — bringing 96 new homes to Hunts Point, including 58 supportive apartments with on-site case management and job training, as well as 38 rent-stabilized homes available through the NYC housing lottery. Every development is a step closer to a Bronx and a city where everyone has a place to call home.

Big things are happening in Hunts Point! 🏗️💙 The Doe Fund recently broke ground on Casanova Residence — nearly 100 units of affordable and supportive housing coming to the Bronx.

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible partners who showed up and showed out for this community.
