Brooklyn stepped out and STEPPED UP! 💙👟

This Saturday, our community came together at Prospect Park for Step Up for Brooklyn, raising funds and awareness for BCS’s Community Cornerstone Programs.

The weather was perfect, the energy was even better, and BCS Board Member Laci Chisholm got us moving with a warm-up before we set out on a 2.5-mile walk through the park.

To everyone who walked, fundraised, donated, shared our posts, or helped spread the word: THANK YOU! Your support helps our Cornerstone programs continue providing youth programming, job support, community engagement, and resources for Brooklynites of all ages.

And we’re not quite done yet! We’re still just shy of our $10,000 goal.

Another month of showing up for our neighbors through Food for Families! 💙

We are sad to announce that October will be the final month of this program. While we’re sad to see it come to a close, we’re grateful for the time we’ve spent connecting with our communities and helping families access food across Brooklyn.

Join us for our final round of food distributions across BCS program sites. Swipe to the end for the full October schedule, and help us spread the word to neighbors who could use the support.

Another reason to Step Up for Brooklyn! 👟⚽️

Our partners at and are stepping up with us, giving Step Up for Brooklyn participants a chance to win pitchside tickets to their October 21 home match at Maimonides Park in Coney Island.

Two winners will each receive four pitchside tickets to the 6:30 PM match.

There are two ways to enter:

✨ Register and walk with us TOMORROW, October 3
✨ Create a Step Up for Brooklyn fundraiser and raise at least $25

Winners will be selected on October 5.

Every step and every dollar raised helps BCS continue investing in programs and services that create opportunities for Brooklynites and strengthen communities across the borough.

Help BCS support the women in our shelters and supportive housing—one pack at a time! 💙

This October, all pads and tampons donated at the Fit4Dance studio will come to BCS through the annual menstrual product drive hosted by Fit4Dance and WeDeliverPeriod.

We’re grateful to be this year’s recipient of a drive that has been collecting essential supplies since 2016.

Want to help? Drop off an unopened package of pads or tampons at Fit4Dance anytime during October.

Meet Jerry Rivera, a Director at Accordion and a member of the BCS board. 💙

For Jerry, his Hispanic heritage has shaped how he understands community: “You support ‘la familia.’ When you succeed, they succeed. You look out for your neighbors with that shared sense of belonging.”

Jerry first joined the board of Turning Point Brooklyn in 2010 and continued serving after its merger with BCS. Even though he now lives in Queens, Brooklyn is still part of his community.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating Jerry and the care he brings to BCS. We’re grateful for his continued commitment to helping his Brooklyn neighbors access the support they need.
