The seven young adults participating in leadership and workforce development through this year’s Azul Cohort:

🍕 Deepened their inner life and spiritual foundation
🍕 Grew in leadership capacity
🍕 Practiced workforce development by crafting hundreds of pizzas for Wild Flower pop ups
🍕 And grew in professionalism, confidence, and communication by interacting with a broad range of customers.

In the dim hallways and loud rooms of adult clubs, BJM EdenMade’s simple prayer circles turned moments into tender, shared acts of faith, like praying in the heart language of a woman whose mother was ill.

Because Justice Matters is planting a church in the heart of San Francisco. The church will reflect the community’s language, culture, schedules and neighborhood life. The neighborhood's dreams and prayers for this became clear in conversations at regular gatherings of shared meals, Bible study, and worship. BJM is moving towards monthly family gatherings at a partner church combining information, training, prayer, and worship.

The Because Justice Matters Creative Arts team meets students where they are developmentally and emotionally to blend creativity, discipleship, and character development A custom evaluation co-developed by BJM and SEED revealed that over half of participants (20 out of 39) reached “like to see” results. In practice, this means girls are staying year over year, showing up on time and prepared, and stepping into leadership roles. Another 10 reached “love to see” - cultivating their artist voice in praise and worship while helping teach others. BJM coaches’ consistent, transformational relationships help the girls convey their spiritual truths.

Meet Because Justice Matters (BJM), a SEED Impact client building pathways toward brighter futures with young adults, girls, parents and women in the adult entertainment industry.

BJM celebrates a community in motion with discipleship, leadership development, and pastoral care. Young adults lead the Azul Cohort. Girls in the Creative Arts classes worship and engage in Spirit-led conversations. Women in EdenMade are reminded of their identity and value. Mentors gather and connect through IGNITE and SHINE. And a new church plant is growing out of the long-term presence and relationships formed in weekly Bible studies, dance classes, and parent gatherings.

For over 18 years, BJM has created opportunities for restoration, expression, and growth for women and girls in the Tenderloin. And they are only getting started.
