We are a nonpolitical, nonpartisan organization seeking to provide humanitarian relief to thousands of displaced refugees from the Donbass region and from other conflict-affected areas of Eastern Ukraine. We created this organization with a goal to help children, families, and the elderly who have lost or were forced to flee their homes. Military conflict in Eastern Ukraine that began in April of
2014 has forced more than a million people to flee their homes and find shelter elsewhere in the country, while hundreds of thousands have fled to the Russian Federation and other neighboring states. Millions of people who still remain in war-affected areas are in serious danger of starving if normal government services aren’t restored by the government in Kiev. In November 2014 the Ukrainian government made a decision to stop payment of social benefits to people living in the East meaning, among other things, that the most vulnerable populations such as single mothers and their children, people with disabilities and elderly Ukrainians in the region are no longer receiving their pensions. Also, thousand of residents in many cities do not have basic necessities like electricity, water, gas and food. There are records of people who died from hunger-related causes. For hundreds of thousands of people their homes have become a pile of debris. Many families with little children are hiding in basements and have to live under extreme conditions at night and stand in long lines just to get a loaf of bread during the day. There is a great need for everything in Ukraine, including medicine, food, water, clothing, home goods, kitchen appliances, furniture, and other necessities.
