We will be exploring the phenomenon of Cloudbursts and mitigation, and our connections to water within Flushing Meadows Park.

Join us for a day celebrating water’s power and presence! Enjoy art-making sessions led by artist and guest artist .j.chueca, and participate in an Aztec ceremony and a parade to close the day. RSVP link in bio!

Through art-making, ceremony, and community engagement, we aim to reconnect with water as an emotional, ancestral, and cultural presence in our lives. Part of City as Living Lab’s Cloudbursts/WaterWays initiative, this project is a creative response that seeks to deepen understanding of the increasing phenomenon of cloudbursts, sudden intense rainstorms affecting the Corona neighborhood.

Part of WaterWays/Cloudburst initiative, Niceli will be leading an engaging art making session that seeks to deepen the Corona community’s collective and personal connection to water as a source of life, migration, memory, danger and renewal.

The art made will be used for a parade in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on July 19th!

Join artist for a day of art-making at the Corona Library this Saturday!

During the workshop participants will help to create an interactive flood map, banners, posters, costumes, and more to use in a ceremony procession at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This workshop is free and open to all ages!

Únete a la artista Niceli Portugal para un día de arte en la Biblioteca de Corona.

Durante el taller, los participantes ayudarán a crear un mapa interactivo de las inundaciones, pancartas, carteles, disfraces, etc. que se utilizarán en una procesión ceremonial en Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
