12 PM March: Meet at 1199 Eastern Parkway
1-5PM Picnic: Brower Park

Join the CHTU for our 11th annual picnic and march on September 19th. To kick off the day's events, we will begin by marching through Crown Heights! We will meet some of our tenant associations and learn about past and present campaigns!

Then we'll meet at Brower Park at 1 pm to eat, socialize, and build tenant power together with our neighbors!

Some of the music will be provided by Sanctuary Jam, the all-free, all-ages, all-skill-levels welcome jam session! Sanctuary Jam [📍Crown Heights, BK]] is a space for our community to develop creativity and build connections. Bring an instrument if you have it!

The PSWG is hosting another Book Club on Thursday, August 6th at 7pm. RSVP for location.

This month, we’ll be reading the first section of Heaven Looks Like Us: Palestinian Poetry, edited by George Abraham and Noor Hindi. This anthology gathers Palestinian poetry across years, borders, and languages to rail against dispossession and work towards a free Palestine.

The first section, titled “Our bags are always ready,” grapples with exile, housing and document precarity, and the meanings and resonances of place. In reading these poems together, we’ll consider questions like: what are the legacies of Palestinian poetry, and resistance poetry more broadly? How can poetry serve as a counterpoint to oppressive mythmaking? How can the personal narrative, individual and collective accounts, be used to assert, to trouble, to assemble, to mobilize?

As the poet Sarona Abuaker writes, “and you, landlord, settler, state / need to remember whose f*cking land you’re on.”
