Today, Delaware Governor Matt Meyer signed SB 250 into law, strengthening legal protections for children and families across the state.

This new law helps ensure that more children have clear, legally recognized relationships with the parents who love and care for them.

COLAGE was proud to help make this victory possible by bringing the voices of people with LGBTQ+ parents directly into the legislative process.

“Family Equality means belonging. Building community — that’s what it’s all about.”

At our annual Incredi-bowl event in March, we sat down with a few of our attendees and asked them how they show up for their families. This Pride Month, we’re reflecting on what they shared and putting it into practice! Being visible, being present, and providing a safe and supportive environment for our loved ones to express their most authentic selves — what better way to celebrate Pride?

How do you show up for your family?❤️🏳️‍🌈

"I show up for my kids. 🏳️‍🌈 For every performance, every argument over brushing their teeth, every tough conversation, every milestone. Pride means showing them that love is unconditional, family comes in many forms, and they always have someone in their corner."
-Doug London, Calvin and Mabel's dad + Family Equality board member

“Family is greater than a census box or a legal loophole. It is commitment, sacrifice, and unconditional love.” — Darra Gordon, Family Equality's CEO.

At Family Equality, we demonstrate that commitment every day — when we’re expanding access to fertility insurance coverage in Minnesota, or coordinating community-building events in Georgia, or advocating for parentage protections in New York. Because everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. And everyone deserves to experience the unconditional love and belonging of family.

When we show up for our families, we show up for our entire community. And that’s something to be proud of.🏳️‍🌈❤️

Karine Jean-Pierre closed her powerful remarks at Night at the Pier with a message we haven’t stopped thinking about. Advocacy is love in action. It’s choosing to speak when silence would be easier.

Every family deserves to be visible, protected, and celebrated. That’s exactly what Family Equality is fighting for — we show up for LGBTQ+ families across the country who deserve to be seen and celebrated.
