Australia established its first Indigenous Protected ā€œSea Country,ā€ safeguarding over 500,000 acres of marine ecosystems through Karajarri stewardship.

Brazil’s Atlantic Forest recorded its lowest deforestation rates since 1985 thanks to a combination of public pressure, new policies and enforcement mechanisms, and a mobilized Brazilian civil society.

Greece officially protected Gyaros, home to the largest colony of Mediterranean monk seals.

And in the US, litter in waterways dropped 34% since 2020. When policies protect ecosystems, animals return.

When nations choose conservation, environments make comebacks. When people listen to each other and the world around them, stories end in progress.

We wouldn’t call these ā€œweaknessesā€ despite what hustle culture says. Seriously, who hasn’t misfired at the worst possible moment? And some of us can’t fly either (yet). Don’t undersell what you bring, it’s all about ✨perspective✨

šŸ¦‘ Somewhere off the coast of Western Australia, a 275kg giant squid is going about its day, completely unbothered, utterly massive, and until recently, unknown to science.

🦈 Brazil's largest hospital cancelled its shark meat order, a landmark moment in the country that consumes more shark meat than anywhere else in the world.

🌊 Jersey Island nearly quadrupled its marine protected areas, and over 85 million acres of private land across the US and Australia are newly conserved.

🌱 From American prairies to the Australian bush, wealthy donors are giving back land for rewilding.

We all communicate in different ways — some with words, others through body language. Seals are no different!

Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough! Thank you for bringing the beauty of the natural world into our homes. Whether documenting the never-before-seen depths of the ocean or the invisible biomes animating the forest floor, your storytelling has changed how we see our planet and our place in it. We’re so grateful, and forever in awe.

From all of us here in the Only One community, we wish you continued good health, happiness, and so many more moments of wonder.

Dolphins — along with humans and great apes — are among the few animals known to show signs of self-awareness. They’ve passed what’s called the mirror self-recognition test: when marked and placed in front of a reflective surface, they investigate their own bodies, recognizing that something has changed.

Maybe that’s why moments with them feel different. Underwater, it’s not just observation — it’s a shared presence. Two aware beings, crossing paths.

We don’t know exactly how dolphins see us. But it’s a beautiful thought that, in passing, they might wonder about us too.

Bald eagles aren’t your typical ā€œseabird,ā€ but as sea eagles, they depend on water just as much as land — hunting fish from coasts and freshwater habitats.

And then there’s the ā€œdeath spiralā€: two eagles locking talons midair, spinning toward the ground in a high-stakes test of power and precision, seen during courtship or territorial disputes.

Skomer Island is seeing record-breaking puffin numbers, as 23 North Atlantic right whale calves mark the strongest season since 2009. In New Zealand, kiwi populations are climbing thanks to sustained conservation efforts, and off South Africa, a supergroup of 470+ humpback whales has been spotted feeding. Different species, same story: when protection is consistent and intentional, nature doesn’t just survive, it rebounds. Let’s keep the momentum going!

The largest creature to have ever lived still swims our oceans — the blue whale.
Nudibranchs display some of the most surreal colors in nature, many drawn from the very creatures they consume.
From polar bears to penguins to leopard seals, life finds new ways to thrive even in the coldest, most unforgiving places.

The natural world stretches far beyond what we can imagine… but it’s all real.
And somewhere beneath the surface, there are still countless creatures we’ve yet to discover.

It’s incredible, really.
