'tit Rǝx

'tit Rǝx World's First Mardi Gras Microkrewe Founded in 2009, we are a krewe dedicated to all things small. The floats are pulled by their artist handlers.

Each year we put on a Mardi Gras parade consisting of around 25 shoebox floats. Much like a large scale parade we have royalty (a king and a queen) with the difference being that royalty are represented by inanimate objects and are not actual people. We also have a different theme each year. Floats are constructed with the theme in mind.

'tit Rəx incorporates three brass bands in their parade so

there is always a lot of dancing and revelry. Members also construct all throws which are small scale and very unique. At the end of the parade we host Gallier Small and the Ping Pong Ball. You can learn about the floats at our viewing stage (Gallier Small) and dance into the night at the ball.

Microraptor, which means “small thief” in Greek, gets its name from being the smallest known species of raptor dinosaurs, or dinosaurs with birdlike qualities. It’s also currently the smallest of all known dinosaurs, weighing about two pounds and only a foot tall.

Meet the tiniest dinosaur—so far.

The World's Tiniest Big Cat:
Meet the tiny predator that rules the rainforest floor of Sri Lanka: the Rusty-Spotted Cat.

Often called the world’s smallest wild cat, this elusive feline weighs just 2–4 pounds — small enough to fit in the palm of your hands as a kitten. But don’t let the size fool you. With lightning-fast reflexes, sharp climbing skills, and a fearless hunting instinct, this miniature hunter is every bit as fierce as its larger cousins.

Its soft gray coat is marked with beautiful rusty-colored spots, helping it disappear into dense forests and grasslands. And because it’s so shy and rarely seen, spotting one in the wild is considered incredibly lucky.

Proof that nature doesn’t need to be big to be extraordinary. 🐾

On the first day of February, ‘tit Rex Sunday, during a fun-sized roll on the St Roch neutral ground, a group of unfun-sized clowns wearing camouflaged soldier gear attempted to breach the miniverse with Godzilla sized bodies and plastic guns bigger than the size of our floats.

They were not affiliated with ‘tit Rex and their performance was not welcome. Whatever their intentions were, their actions were harmful, particularly to members of our krewe and community who have experienced racial profiling and state violence.

The use of militarized costumery, guns, and other weapons (even plastic toy ones) have no place in ‘tit Rex especially at a time when such imagery and weaponry is being used to terrorize communities across our country.

‘Tit Rex values the interactiveness of our crowd when they respect our scale and our commitment to celebrating creativity and joy. We reject intimidation in all forms.
