Preparing now for hurricane season — and not waiting for a storm to threaten — is essential for staying ahead of any storm. Stay safe all season.

Extreme weather is becoming more frequent and more intense. Understanding your specific risks is the first step to staying safe.

Make sure you're connected to a reliable alert service before a storm approaches. The FEMA app delivers real-time warnings from the National Weather Service, and the Red Cross Emergency: Alerts app lets you customize alerts and locate open shelters near you. Also, check whether your local emergency management department has its own notification system.

Welcome to the team, Leigh!

What an amazing experience with a rockstar group! We partnered with and spent two days demoing tile and building a fence that was damaged from the 2024 Tampa hurricanes.
We worked hard over 2 days and also enjoyed the beautiful Clearwater/St Pete area with a sunset cruise, a walk on the pier and, of course, a fun filled meetup with the local ChooseFI group!

SBP was proud to be part of the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (National VOAD) Conference in Reno this May, one of the most important gatherings in the disaster response and recovery field.

Our California Resilience Fellow Valerie Brown presented at multiple panels covering the financial complexity of wildfire recovery, survivor-driven tech innovation, and the long road communities face when rebuilding after a wildfire. The conversations reflected just how much disaster survivors are navigating, often all at once.

We were also glad to have Disaster Assistance Programs Director Claire Balsley and Community Preparedness Manager Lyanne Ortiz at our table, connecting with partners and sharing SBP's work throughout the conference.

Thank you to National VOAD for bringing this community together. We're grateful to be in the room alongside the organizations doing this work every day.

This Hurricane Preparedness Week, we encourage everyone to review emergency plans and stay informed as hurricane season approaches. Preparedness begins with proactive planning, and taking steps now can help ensure greater safety and resilience before a disaster happens.

This week, SBP was thrilled to welcome two teams of AT&T volunteers to serve communities along the Gulf Coast! In Tampa, volunteers rolled up their sleeves on two active rebuild sites, supporting homeowners on their road to recovery from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. In New Orleans, a dedicated crew packed disaster preparedness kits to help communities get ready for storm season.

Thank you to AT&T for your continued support of disaster survivors 💛
