Earlier this spring, first grade students made “A Visit To The Stars” right within the comfort of Mountain Way School. ✨
Thanks to STEM Teacher Mrs. Jessica Hendershot and her use of an EFMP Mini-Grant, the Starlab Portable Planetarium System - which is a huge inflatable planetarium - returned this year along with Mr. Matthew Meyer to teach kids about the Milky Way and all the planets in our solar system. Students also learned how to identify planets, stars, and constellations in our night sky. They even learned how the constellations came together and how they look when they’re filled in as mythological figures, animals, and objects. The next time our first graders look toward the night sky, they’ll have a whole solar system of new things to see! 🌌
Huge thank you to Mrs. Hendershot for being an out-of-this-world teacher and for making Mountain Way Stars shine brighter through her creativity and hard work! ⭐️
