Out-of-state private equity companies are buying up some of the last affordable housing in Montana - trailer parks and apartment buildings. They’re raising the rent, so we’re building collective power and wielding it to get our demands met.

Union members at Travois Village and Harvey’s Mobile Home Park have successfully signed collectively bargained leases stopping extraneous rent hikes and securing maintenance needs in their parks. While this is an incredible win for over 300 neighbors in Missoula County, our fight for universal tenant protections isn’t over til it’s over - and it’s never fu***ng over.

Help us send leaders from property unions across our community to Union School where we will continue to develop the skills we need to ensure more demands are met and more neighbors have secured safe, stable and affordable housing.

demand letter and continued empty promises to preserve this beautiful community as

“We’re old and we’re bold!”

Last week residents of Katoonah Lodges launched the Katoonah Lodges Tenants Union with over 80% of households represented, making it the third supermajority tenants union in Missoula.

Since purchasing the park in 2025, Axia has raised lot rents by nearly $200 while many residents, many of them elders on fixed incomes, struggle to keep up with rising costs.

Katoonah Lodges Tenants Union is asking that Axia come to the bargaining table with their elected Bargaining Team to negotiate and secure a collectively bargained lease. Key union demands include: Consistent Lease Terms: longer term lease agreements, uniform for all residents Fixed Lot Rent and Limited Adjustments: uniform for all residents, adjustments strictly based on COLA, protection from hidden and/or processing fees Preservation of 55+ community

Katoonah residents made it clear: they are organized, united, and ready to fight for housing security, dignity, and the right to age in peace in their forever homes.
