National American Indigenous Business Leaders

National American Indigenous Business Leaders AIBL is the only American Indian non-profit organization solely dedicated to empowering business students in the United States.

History: AIBL was organized in January 1994 and was recognized as a 501(c)(3) in 1995 on the University of Montana’s campus in Missoula as a result of founder, and first Executive Director, Michelle Henderson’s (Assiniboine) master thesis. The original idea evolved from concern expressed by many tribal leaders that recognized a critical need for educated, experienced members to assist with tribal

economic development efforts. Vision Statement: AIBL’s vision over the next decade is to become the pre-eminent national non-profit organization serving American Indians and Alaska Natives by providing business and entrepreneurship education, leadership development training, and the necessary support to help young men and women who aspire to pursue studies and careers in business, entrepreneurship, or related disciplines. Founding Principles: AIBL's spirit of success stems from our four guiding principles: Education, Leadership, Experience, and Culture

Advanced Mentoring Program 2026 Cohort⭐️

These eight students stepped outside their comfort zone to embark on a two-day in-person professional and personal development retreat in Hermosa Beach, California.

We laughed, cried, and opened up about hardships, barriers, and fears. And, a lot of hope, inspiration, motivation, self-reflection, and perspective shifts occurred🫶🏽

AIBL is excited to continue to support and watch these students turn their professional and personal dreams into reality. What a fantastic group of Indigenous leaders.

Advanced Mentoring Program
Each year, the AIBL Mentoring Program welcomes Indigenous college students to strengthen their professional skillsets and personal resilience through training, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

Eight of these students are invited to participate in the Advanced Mentoring Program, which is financially supported through our generous partner .

The program focuses on professional and personal development. Mentees will travel to LA this weekend to participate in a two-day Development Retreat. Besides in-person mentorship, students are paired with a professional mentor to meet virtually for two months.

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes content that includes mentee and mentor introductions!
