Great volunteer event with Trout Unlimited at Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge!

Join us as we help maintain last year’s restoration project along North Burnt Fork Creek by clearing invasive weeds and giving native plants the space they need to thrive. We’ll be out there Thursday, April 16th from 1–4 PM—come prepared for uneven terrain and bring work gloves, boots, and water. Snacks and some tools will be provided.

The Salmonfly Project is looking for volunteers next week to help with aquatic insect surveys on Rock Creek—a great opportunity to get out on the water and contribute to meaningful conservation work.

Collected data helps track aquatic insect trends over time and plays an important role in understanding the health of this important fishery.

🎣Join Us for Our March meeting featuring Hilary Hutcheson!

We’re excited to welcome Hilary Hutcheson—Montana river guide, storyteller, and passionate advocate for wild rivers.

Hilary will share stories and insights from the Upper Middle Fork of the Flathead River in the Great Bear Wilderness, one of the most spectacular and intact cold-water ecosystems in the Northern Rockies—and a place she knows deeply from years spent on the water.

Her presentation will also highlight the 50th anniversary of the Flathead River’s designation as a Wild and Scenic River in 2026, reflecting on what that historic protection has meant for fish, wildlife, and the people who cherish wild places.

From conservation history to unforgettable river moments, Hilary will offer a look at why the Flathead remains one of Montana’s most treasured rivers—and why protecting it matters for future generations.

A big thank you to Kingfisher Fly Shop for donating fly tying equipment and to Great Burn Brewing for hosting us and providing the space for our recent community fly tying night.

It was great to see anglers of all experience levels come together, tie flies, share knowledge, and enjoy a fun evening with the community.

Over 20 years! That's how long we have been lucky enough to have had a guy like Ladd working for FWP. He's easily saved hundreds of thousands of fish, has made ever lasting impressions on our waterways and the time has come to wish him well in retirement! He will give us one last update on local efforts and we will raise a glass to wish him well in all of his future endeavors! See you at the Stillroom Restaurant conference room.
