Today is a somber day for me.
One year ago today, we lost Jimmy Murray, a man whose compassion, vision and willingness to answer a simple question changed the lives of millions of families around the world.
Dr. Audrey Evans once asked Jimmy, “Why isn’t there a house for families to stay when their child is sick?” She understood something so important: when a child is seriously ill, the entire family is affected.
Together, Jimmy and Dr. Evans helped create the very first Ronald McDonald House Philadelphia. What began with one house and one powerful idea has grown into a global mission, with Ronald McDonald House programs serving families in more than 60 countries.
My family was incredibly fortunate to spend time with Jimmy on many occasions. Every conversation, every smile and every story reminded me what one person can accomplish when compassion is turned into action.
Jimmy and Dr. Evans are two of the greatest inspirations behind why I founded One Dad’s Mission. They showed me that you do not have to accept that something is simply the way it is. You can ask, “How can we make it better?” and then do something about it.
If One Dad’s Mission can accomplish even 10% of the good they brought into this world, I will consider it a life well lived.
Missing you today and every day, Jimmy. Thank you for showing all of us what it truly means to make a difference. ❤🙏🏻
