Longfellow Lawnfest is almost here!

On Saturday, October 10 from 4–6 PM, lawns and yards across Greater Longfellow are turning into tiny neighborhood stages, gathering spots, activity zones, and whatever else our neighbors came up with.

There will be live music, activities, art, and plenty of reasons to wander around the neighborhood and see what’s happening.

And because Lawnfest happens all across Greater Longfellow, you’re going to want the map.

A site at Chicago Avenue and E 34th Street, where the Wilder Complex currently sits, may become an option depending on the School Board’s upcoming School Transformation decision.

What a beautiful day celebrating the Mississippi River and the community that surrounds it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Longfellow River Gorge Festival!

For more than a decade, this annual tradition has brought neighbors together to learn about the river, connect with our local environment, and celebrate the incredible natural resource running right alongside our neighborhood.

The River Gorge Festival wouldn’t happen without the dedicated neighborhood volunteers who help organize it year after year, or the community members who continue to show up, participate, learn, and care for this special place.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s festival happen, and to everyone who came out to celebrate the Mississippi with us.

We’re already looking forward to next year!

ReEntry Lab next 5 x 5 Reading + Open Mic is coming to Moon Palace Books on Tuesday, October 6th at 7 p.m.

The evening will feature readings from Bridget Gordon, Wordsworth Musinguzi, Marquise Bowie, KJ Kieras, and Najeeba Syeed, followed by an open mic where anyone is welcome to sign up and share their own work.

ReEntry Lab works to connect writers and other artists leaving incarceration with a community ready to receive them, and this event is part of their Better Things series in partnership with the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop and Moon Palace Books.

MPS School Transformation is looking at how students across Minneapolis access academics, individualized support, social-emotional learning, career-connected opportunities, advanced academics, athletics, clubs and more.

If you’re an MPS parent, student, educator, neighbor, or community member, this is an opportunity to learn more about what’s being considered, ask questions, and make sure community voices are part of the conversation.

Redesign, Inc. is offering a series of free, one-hour guided tours that take you inside the Coliseum while sharing the story behind the organization’s work in South Minneapolis.

During Inside the Coliseum: The Story of Redesign, you’ll hear about the people and projects behind Redesign, visit parts of the building you may not have seen before, and learn how their work supporting small businesses, housing, and real estate development connects across our community.

Celebrate the season with Longfellow Rising at their Fall Harvest Gathering, a free community event bringing people together in the heart of Downtown Longfellow.

Meet at Southside Unicorn Peace Garden for an afternoon of food from local vendors and farmers, live music, art, and community. Come share a meal, meet people from across the neighborhood, and experience local creative work. Plus! Stand up comedy from CM Chowdhury!

The City of Minneapolis is asking for public input on proposed new zoning regulations for data centers.

With data centers expanding rapidly, in part because of increased demand from AI technology, the City is considering new rules around where they can operate, how large they can be, reporting of energy and water use, and noise impacts.

Minneapolis residents can review the proposed policy, submit feedback online, or share comments at the Planning Commission public hearing:
