Join AK Connection for a relaxed summer evening of community, conversation, and connection.

Whether you're reconnecting with familiar faces or meeting someone new, this is a chance to gather with other adult adoptees and their guests in a casual and welcoming environment.

AK Connection will provide appetizers throughout the evening, and additional food and beverages will be available for purchase from Arbeiter Brewing and Revival.

Another Opportunity to Connect Earlier in the day, Dr. Kim Park Nelson will be hosting a screening of Joy Ride as part of the "Screening Adoption: Adoption Film Series and Adoptee Audience Research" project. Only open to adoptees.

Adult adoptees are invited to a free six-film screening series, starting June 17, and to participate in research on adoptee audience responses to films containing adopted characters and/or adoption plots/subplots. Attendees may join one, several, or all screenings. After each film, attendees will be asked (but not required) to complete a brief survey on their response to the film’s adoption content. All participation is voluntary, anonymous, and includes informed consent.

Join AK Connection & Adoptees United for an important community conversation. All intercountry and domestic adoptees, adoptive families, and allies are welcome.

As the political and immigration landscape continues to change, many adoptees are facing new uncertainty around citizenship and documentation. This event will provide timely insights, resources, and strategies to help our community better understand and respond to these evolving challenges. We are honored to welcome Greg Luce of Adoptees United and the Adoptee Rights Law Center for this event focusing on adoptee citizenship, documentation challenges, and ongoing advocacy efforts.

AK Connection is wishing everyone a joyful, meaningful, and safe Seollal. As we step into the Year of the Horse, may this year bring you strength, courage, and forward movement. The horse symbolizes resilience and determination; qualities that so many in our community embody every day.

Seollal is a time to reflect on where we’ve been and to honor where we’re going. We hope you continue to find, embrace, and explore what it means to be a Korean adoptee and what it means to be Korean — in ways that feel authentic and empowering to you. Whether that’s through culture, language, community, food, family traditions, or simply gathering together, your journey is valid and worth celebrating.
