Our Mission: Protecting the Minnesota You Love
From our four “real” seasons to our 10,000 lakes, the Great Outdoors defines life here. It is where many of our most cherished memories are created with family and friends. Passing our experiences and traditions on to our children, being good stewards of our land and lakes — these are values that we all share. At Conservation Minnesota, we turn your l

ove of Minnesota’s Great Outdoors into the laws that protect it. And we provide reliable information to help you make important decisions for your family, community and future. http://www.conservationminnesota.org/mission/

"West Bridge Park has evolved into one of Monticello’s signature gathering spaces, combining inclusive playground features, environmental design and riverfront access in a way that recently earned statewide recognition through Conservation Minnesota’s 2026 Blazing Star Award, along with an honor from the Minnesota Recreation & Park Association (MRPA)."

On a warm spring day in Monticello, it is easy to see what makes the city’s parks different.

"The longer the lead lines stay in place, the longer people are exposed to lead, a toxic metal with no safe amount of exposure."

The Minnesota Legislature injected $15 million into the state’s lead service line program, falling far short of the funding that some were hoping for.

"The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency accuses 3M of violating state permits and regulations and says its actions 'present an ongoing and continuous harm to Minnesota’s environment and threat to Minnesotans.'”

3M wants the case moved to federal court. The Maplewood-based company says it’s not liable for the pollution because it manufactured firefighting foam on behalf of the U.S. military.

Pollution is not equally distributed across Minnesota. For decades, heavily polluting industrial and manufacturing facilities have operated near homes, schools, and parks where Black people, Indigenous people, people of color, and low-income residents live and work, causing disproportionate rates of health problems. To address this problem, the Minnesota Legislature in 2023 asked the MPCA to consider the cumulative impacts of air pollution on those disproportionately affected Minnesotans during the permitting process for some new and existing facilities. This new rule would take effect in the Twin Cities metro area, Duluth, and Rochester. Join the MPCA on June 2 at 6 p.m. to learn more about the proposed rule and what it means for communities across the state!
